Pinefur jumped in alarm when she heard a voice behind her, but then relaxed when she realized it was only Ravenglide. She took a deep breath in and tried to relax. After all; she wouldn't be setting a good impression on a younger warrior if she acted so skittish and jumpy. Though, the tabby tom was larger than her, so she always confused him by thinking he was older. The brown she-cat thought about his offer for a moment. It was against the warrior code to eat before hunting for the Clan, and she didn't want to break that rule. However, maybe it wouldn't hurt to have a little meal to keep her strength up. And besides; we'll hunt more prey on the way back. she added to herself before nodding shyly.
Turning, Pinefur dug up her mouse and scraped the earth off of it before taking a small bite. The warm meat felt good; the flavors washing over her tongue as she chewed. She hadn't eaten in a long time; she had went to sleep without dinner the night before since she was too afraid to approach the fresh-kill pile. This could partially be the cause of why she was so small and skinny. As she finished her mouse, she couldn't help but watch Ravenglide for a moment, when it looked as if he wasn't looking at her. His words kept returning to her mind, and she blushed again, feeling her ears grow warm. It could've been just a dream - but it felt too real.
Maybe he would leave her alone the next day. Surely he would? But for some strange reason, Pinefur wanted to be with him more. To learn more about him, and maybe, if the opportunity calls for, they could become friends. Of course, though, that was more that she could've asked for, but hunting with him at that moment was enough for then. She couldn't help but wonder what would happen the next day. Should she ask him if he'd like to hunt again? Maybe that was too much. As she worried over what to do, she didn't realize that her tail kept flicking against Ravenglide's. When she did, she blushed in embarrassment and pulled it by her side, looking away as she swallowed the last bit of her mouse.

The handsome tabbby tom whatched Pinefur eat her mouse, before taking a bite out of his own vole. The musky flavor seeped into his mouth, as it's life blood gave Ravenglide it's much needed energy. He didn't particularly like forest prey, but if he had to eat it- voles were his favorite. After taking two bites, he looked up at Pinefur, seeing that she was finished, he quickly gulped down the last few bites. Looking up at her again, he swiped his tounge around his mouth. Standing up, he looked around. "Ready?" he asked with a sigh. He himself, was wondering what it would be like to go back to the camp with Pinefur. He knew the fact that they had spent the morning hunting alone, would definitely start some gossip amond the queens. Then agian, they were always gossiping about one thing or another. It would also cause some interesting conversation between his fellow warriors. words:159

Pinefur was lost in thought and almost didn't hear Ravenglide. "Wha - oh, right," she stumbled over her words as she rose to her paws. Shaking the dust from her brown fur, she just then remembered that they'd have to hunt on the way back to camp. Suddenly worried that Blizzardstar would be angry with her, she considered hunting right then, but she noticed that the rain had stopped a long time ago. So if it was dry, they could hunt out in the open. Pinefur may have liked the shadey, secluded woodlands, but she had to admit that it was a lot easier hunting out in the open. Making sure there weren't any bits of mouse on her muzzle, she quickly ran her paw over it. When both were ready, she started in the direction of the moore, following the damp breeze.
Maybe I will invite him to hunt with me tomorrow - or maybe again, today! Pinefur thought to herself, feeling satisfied that she was able to think even when with another cat. Then again, it still felt too much to be asking for Ravenglide to practically waste his time with such a pest like her. Without noticing, Pinefur's small frame was closer to Ravenglide's than she'd intended, and her fur brushed up against his. She was still deep in thought, so she didn't have a clue.
When they emerged from the undergrowth and into the moorelands, Pinefur squeezed her eyes shut for a few moments so she'd be able to adjust them to the strong winds. Afterwards, she was walking onwards again, heading for the direction of camp. As she thought, she decided that she'd thank Ravenglide when they returned to camp. Or maybe now? No, it'll be awkward... she quickly countered. But what would they do in the meanwhile? The scent of rabbit brought her back to her senses, and Pinefur remembered about hunting. Glad to have something to occupy herself, she darted toward the scent, her face lighting up when she saw the small, gray head of a rabbit perk up before darting off.
Swiftly, Pinefur pushed ahead and was now only a few fox-lengths behind the scrawny bundle of fur as she unsheathed her claws and tensed her muscles. Suddenly, the white tail of the rabbit disappeared into thin air. Before she could realize what was happening, Pinefur's paw fell into a burrow and she stumbled to the ground, falling on her paw and letting out a yelp of pain. When the world stopped spinning, the brown she-cat tried to stand, but then winced and fell to the ground again. Dizzy, she looked down at her paw and in dismay, saw that it was twisted in a unusual way. Every movement Pinefur made resulted in a sharp, throbbing pain. Oh, no! Now I've ruined everything, she thought miserably.

Ravenglide watched as Pinefur stalked forward, clearly scenting something. Taking a deep breath he smelt a strong whiff of rabbit. As he moved slowly, to make sure the rabbit didn't escape Pinefur he watched as the she-cat's fell into a burrow. Hearing her yelp in pain he leapt towards her frantically. Her paw was twisted at an awkward angle, and Ravenglide wondered for a moment if it was broken. "Pinefur! Are you okay? " he asked her, the fear he felt for her detectable in his voice. He pushed up next to the she-cat, to offer his shoulder for support. Inside his head, his mind was racing with fear and he could feel his heart pound. They were far from camp and if they struggled back it would be a long walk, but Pinefur was clearly hurt and she didn't need to continue hunting. He didn't want to leave her to go get the medicine cat, because that would leave Pinefur vulnerable to foxes and badgers-not to mention enemy clans. words:173

Pinefur pricked her ears as she heard Ravenglide approach and she tried to hold a straight face. "I-I'm fine, really," she lied, gingerly flexing her paw as if to show him that she was alright. But even while her movements were small, the pain made her wince and she let out a breath of frustration and dismay. At that moment, she was relieved that Ravenglide was there for her. As he nudged her to her paws, she leaned gratefully on his shoulder, hoping that she wasn't being a nuisance to him. She figured that it wouldn't be a good idea to try and walk on her twisted paw, so she kept it in the air and stared at the ground for the entire time.
"I'm sorry, Ravenglide... I d-didn't mean to," she apoligized quietly, wondering how she would be able to hunt with him the next day due to her paw. That is, if she had the courage to ask and if Ravenglide would even say yes. She wanted him to, and she wanted to hunt with him again, but now she coudn't; all thanks to her stupid paw. "I'm probably just being annoying right now..." she muttered sadly. Why do I have to mess up everything?
Pinefur sighed and glanced down at her paw again. It was still twisted. Still throbbing. Still there. Oh, wouldn't it be simply hysterical back at camp when they saw them return to camp; her on his shoulder and limping. They'd think they fancied each other; or worse, thought they were mates. The thought made her embarrassed, and she blushed defiantly, turning her face away. Of course they weren't, but that wouldn't stop from stirring up gossip back at camp. And by the time her paw healed, all the apprentices would have a mentor by then. Would anything ever work out for Pinefur?

The tabby tom looked at Pinefur incredicously. She felt as if this was her fault? He looked at the she-cat as she stood holding her paw pitifully. He looked at her and mewed, "Pinefur, it's not your fault. It could have happened to anyone. Let's get you back to camp!"
Shifting himself so that she would be able to lean on his shoulder, he waiting for her to get ready. This walk was going to a long one and he knew that the comments would be spinning when they went into camp with her leaning on him. He didn't mind ironically. He kind of enjoyed helping the she-cat, mostly because he assumed that she hated having to be helped!
"Pinefur, you could never annoy me." He mummered seriously as he turned to look down into her eyes.

Pinefur still didn't believe Ravenglide's words; even if they were comforting and reassuring. How could it not be her fault? Everything was always her fault, and that was that. But even still, it felt nice to know that for once, someone was standing up for her. There might not have been a big crowd watching, but even if they were the only two cats on earth, it still would've meant something to her.
Grateful for Ravenglide, she slowly began to limp toward the direction of camp, keeping her twisted paw held in the air. Struggling to balance herself, she almost tripped, but then stopped herself at the last heartbeat. Fur bristling, she let it lie flat after a few moments and went on. At the sound of his voice, her ears pricked and she turned her face to look up at the handsome tabby, eyes wide with surprise and. something like fondness.
Her breath was barely audible as she spoke. "Y-you don't?" she whispered, falling into the bottomless pit of Ravenglide's brilliant blue eyes, feeling as if she were at the bottom of a river. It felt so calm and peaceful. But she wasn't in a river, no, she was standing beside Ravenglide on the moore. Her ears grew warm but she didn't look away. Could it be that Ravenglide actually made her feel something toward him?

The tabby tom, padded slowly along side the smaller she-cat, supporting her wieght as best that he could. He knew how much she had to be hurting, and embarassed. She's so cute when she's hurt... he thought with a soft purr. But she really thinks she could annoy me. Looking down at the she-cat, "No. Pinefur, I enjoy spending time with you. You are a special cat to me.", he rumbled.
Twitching his tail, he looked into her eyes, purring at the emotions that he saw caputered there. He knew he was flustering the she-cat, but he couldn't keep his feelings to himself any longer. At least I'm not declaring my love or her... yet. he thought with an amused purr.

A startled expression flashed across Pinefur's face, and she felt a bit dizzy. Was it true? Could anyone actually enjoy spending time with her - let alone Ravenglide? A million thoughts flooded into her mind, and she thought that she would pass out from attempting to sort through all of them. Why? How? What did he mean by, "special"? Was that a bad thing? From the look in his eyes, it couldn't possibly be so. But then, was it a good thing? Pinefur had never saw someone look at her like that, and it made her feel like a kit; not knowing what was happening. For once in her life, she felt valued, like she was worth something, and she had a feeling that it was all because of Ravenglide.
But no matter how many questions rolled into her thoughts, she couldn't find an answer for any them. They kept urging her to find the answer; to figure out why Ravenglide was saying these things to her. She had never done anything for her; yet here he was, supporting her after falling into a rabbit's burrow. But after a moment of being gazed at with such eyes, her curiosity finally managed to grab hold of her tongue. "R-Ravenglide, I d-don't understand..." she stammered in bewilderment, her pelt hot with embarrassment. "W-what... what are you saying?" she asked softly. Pinefur had completely came to a stop now, her twisted paw easily forgotton. She stood there, looking up at the handsome tom, wondering in the back of her mind how she could've possibly put herself into this position.
She didn't notice how fast her heart was beating, or how light she felt; as if her paws were barely touching the ground. Why me? Why now? she wondered. Was it something she did before? Something that could've changed the way Ravenglide looked at her? To be honest, Pinefur had never even spoken to Ravenglide until he had asked her to hunt with him that morning, besides a shy hello here and there. She had sometimes noticed him around camp, helping out the medicine cat or cleaning out the elders' den. She'd always thought that he was such a nice tom; much more thoughtful than the rest, but she never had the courage to talk to him. So, giving up on any possibilities of getting to know the tom, she had forgotton about him up until that morning. Pinefur wondered for a heartbeat if Ravenglide could feel the warmth of her pelt, seeing that she was pressed against him for support. But, for some strange reason, it felt... nice.

Startled by the she-cat's question, Ravenglide formulated a quick story to tell the she-cat. Barely hesitating, he looked away and spoke, "Uh..Let's just get you back to camp- and let Emberpaw take a look at your paw." With a sigh, he looked back down at the she-cat. He waitied on her to respond and figured the quicker they got back to camp... the sooner she'd be out of pain.
Inside his mind, his thoughts were racing. He had never been on a solo hunt with the older she-cat, and she hadn't ever spoken to him. WindClan had grown so large, that there were some other cats in his clan that he knew by name but he had never spoken to. He did realize that the quiet she-cat had capitvated his interest. He had noticed her long before she had noticed him. He loved how she didn't shover her opnions down other cats throats and he found that he thought her shyness was quite cute.

Pinefur almost frowned in disappointment. It wasn't like her to press other cats for answers, but she just had to know what Ravenglide had meant when he called her "special". Fortunately, she was too self-conscious about it, since she would've only been pestering him with her silly questions. Maybe he was just saying she was a friend? But that made no sense! Maybe she said something wrong? Why did he change the subject so fast?
At the mention of her paw, the pain came flowing back, and she winced as she tried to move it. Letting out a frustrated sigh, she simply nodded and began to limp onwards again, her mind reeling with even more questions. Her pelt was still warm from the fading embarrassment, but that wasn't what made her look away; it was the fact that Ravenglide might've been able to see the emotions in her eyes. She was having all these new sensations and thoughts, and it was all because of him. But why?
Pinefur found Ravenglide captivating, but she could never admit that. And besides; Ravenglide barely knows me, she added to herself. But he had said himself that he enjoyed her company; who would say that when they just met someone? Somehow, it didn't feel like Ravenglide had just met her. Pinefur felt like she knew him for a much longer time than just one day of hunting together.
Pinefur didn't realize that her head was propped up against Ravenglide's shoulder until her whiskers twitched and brushed against it. Though, she didn't move away. His soft fur made her feel warm, and his larger, more muscular build made her feel safer and more secure. He made her feel everything, and it was nice. While her thoughts kept bubbling about, Pinefur wondered if Ravenglide would notice how she had rested her head upon his shoulder. Or, maybe he wouldn't. Maybe, just maybe, he wouldn't notice the feelings she was beginning to feel towards him.

As the pair struggled across the moor towards the camp, Ravenglide became increasingly aware of Pinefur's head resting on his shoulder. She must be hurt more than I though, he thought as he looked down softly at her. As she was pressed up against him, he realized how small she was... how frail. Anxious to stop his racing mind, he reach desperately for a topic to discuss, "So when your paw is ready... Would you like to go hunting with me again? " He asked brightly. He found that he was slightly dissapointed that he wouldn't be able to spend the day with the she-cat not to mention the chewing out he would get because they ate and didn't bring back any prey. With a sigh, he waited for Pinefur to respond and wondered what lay in store when they returned back to camp. [ooc: I just stuggled to scratch this togther, I didn't know where to go with it. ] 145

Pinefur was lost in thought when Ravenglide spoke, and it took her a moment to register his words. Her expression brightened, and she looked up at him with joy shining clearly in her ivy-green eyes. "Really?" she asked, ears pricked. Then she realized she was overreacting, and if she overreacted, then Ravenglide might not want to hunt with her anymore. Quickly, she turned her face away for a few moments before looking up at him with a more relaxed expression and added, "Er, I m-mean, sure," She didn't know why, but she felt so happy on the inside.
Maybe this time she wouldn't mess things up. But how long will it take to heal my paw? she suddenly thought, whiskers twitching anxiously. It could take a few days, maybe three, tops. What would she do in that time? Maybe Ravenglide would even forget about her. Then again, that didn't seem like something he would do. An idea formed in her mind, and she wondered for a moment if she could ask him ifhe'd visit her. It's not like I have greencough, she pointed out after a moment, the hope in her eyes fading a bit..
Pinefur didn't notice how close they were to camp by now. She could already see the barrier of camp. Her heart sunk. Would all of this vanish when they returned to camp? Could Ravenglide not risk being seen with a nobody like herself? He had asked her to hunt with him when her paw healed, but would he ignore her in camp? Negative thoughts returned to her mind, and she couldn't help but wonder if she was dreaming.

Nearing the camp, Ravenglide's ears pricked slightly- searching for sounds of his clanmates and praying that Emberpaw was around. Pinefur was limping badly, and he wasn't sure how long she would be out of warrior duties. As they came to the gorse tunnel, he slowed just a bit so the brambles wouldn't claw her fur to much.
Pusing through to the gorse barrier, he led Pinefur slowly to the medicine cat den. As they pushed their way inside, he led her to a nest to let her lay down. Emberpaw was no where to be seen. "I'm going to find Emberpaw, and I'll be back to visit you tonight. I promise." He told the she-cat seriously. He definetly would be back later that night, to check in on the she-cat. He didn't want her to be alone but he knew he would have to let Emberpaw work, and hunt in the meanwhile.
As he made his way towards the entrance, he glanced over his shooulder and felt a purr rumble in his chest. She was truly a spectacular she-cat, and so brave.
