(open) Sneaking Out

"Falconkit, I don't think this is a very good idea. What if we get caught?" Rainkit asked her older brother as the two kits wandered though the barrior of the ThunderClan camp, leaving it behind. Falconkit puffed out his small chest proudly, "There's no way we'll get caught Rainkit!" he told his sister cheerfully as they started walking though the forest, stepping on the leaves to make a crunching sound. "We'll just find some prey so Dad won't have to work so hard, get back to camp though the barrior, and say some warriors dropped it while going back~! Its that's simple~!" Falconkit told Rainkit as they worked together to scramble over an up-high tree root. "Umm, O.K(I guess)." Rainkit said fearfully, the couners of her lips turning into a frown.

<sub>Appleblossom had been hunting all evening, she had caught three mice and thrush already and she felt a longing to hunt some more, even it it took her three trips to carry her catch to the clan. Suddenly a strong scent wafted over her nostrils, Vole. She froze instantly and used her nose and ears to pinpoint it. She spotted the plump little creature, nibbling on a beachnut apparently unaware of her. She slid gracefully into t a crouch, when suddenly a loud crunch echoed as if someone was deliberately trying to scare off her prey. The vole froze, then darted back towards the safety of the bushes. Appleblossom lunged forward, giving chase but the fat little creature scurried to saftey.

Appleblossom was furious. Whoever had scared off her vole, would have to pay. She paused and listened for the noisemakers. Inhaling, she scented a strong scent of ThunderClan, and crept towards it. Silently she slithered up a tree and looked down, amused to discover two of ThunderClan's kits, Falconkit and Rainkit. The mouse brown tabby's tail twitched, as she watched the young kits as the scrambled over a root. She then lept out of the tree landing right in front of the kits, "And just where are you going?" She growled, trying her best to sound motherly. She fixed the kits with her stern green gaze, and awaited their responses.</sub>

Falconkit was just about to touch the other side of the tree root with his paw when a sudden brown blurr jumped in front of him, and Rainkit. "Aaaggg!!!" with a startled yowl, Falconkit fell backwards, hitting the back of his head first. "Falconkit, Falconkit! Are you alright brother?!" Rainkit asked, looking over the tree root with her misty blue-green eyes wide. Falconkit groaned, lifting a paw in the air. "I'm alright Rainkit. But in the name of StarClan was that?" he asked as he tried sitting up stright. Rainkit looked over her dappled shoulders with a gulp, "Appleblossom." she explained with a worried look.

<sub>Appleblossom peered the tree root at the kits, her eyes softening. "What are you doing out here? You two scared off my vole!" She growled as she lept over the tree root and nosed Falconkit, making sure he was alright.

The she-cat wasn't really mad, mostly amused. As a kit she was never the adventurous kind, kinda like Rainkit if she was doing something she was drug along.</sub>

Falconkit groaned, rubbing the back of his head with one paw, feeling a small bump. "I'm OK.." he groaned, looking up at Appleblossom. "I want to go hunt so Dad wouldn't have to work so hard." the tom kit confessed, flicking his thin tail. Rainkit sweatdropped, glancing away. "I didn't really want to do it Appleblossom," she started, shuffing her paws as it made it uncomafut to talk, " But I don't want Daddy to work so hard ethier." Rainkit meowed, looking back at the she-kit. "I don't get it Appleblossom, both of us are the biggest kits in ThunderClan so why do we need to wait one more moon? I can easly hunt a mouse right now!" Falconkit asked, lowering one eyebrow while raising the other.

_{The pretty she-cat softened her gaze and replied, "I know you want to help your father, but your not much help if you get ate by a badger. " With a sigh she looked around the forest scenting the air. "Tell you what I'll make you a deal, I'll take you back to camp and on the way I'll see if we can scare up a mouse or two for you to hunt. She said with a purr as she stood and flicked her tail back and forth. She could collect the rest of her prey on the way back to camp.}

Falconkit's ears perked forward, and he looked up at Appleblossom, "Really? You'll let us hunt?" the tom-kit asked, his blue eyes gleaming. He got to his paws in a leap, a smirky look on his face. "I'm going to be the best hunter ThunderClan will ever have in the clan's history!" Falconkit boosted, puffing out his chest. Rainkit rolled her green eyes, climbing over the tree root to the other side so she was right next to her older brother. "Appleblossom, what are your first prey?" the blue-gray she-kit asked, lifting a paw.

_{Appleblossom purred with amusement, as she flicked her tail beckoning the kits to follow her. She glanced at him and said, "The first prey I ever caught was a vole, which happens to be my favorite." She purposely began to take the long way back to camp, truly hoping that they would scare up some prey. Their mother is going to kill me. She thought to herself. As she neatly lept over a log and stopped to help the kits cross it.}

Rainkit nodded, listening to every word Appleblossom was telling them. Falconkit wiggled his hindquackes, then leapt, scaping his claws along the bark of the log. "I got, I got it!" he said quickly, pressing his back legs against the log. With one big push, he got himself on top of it. "Come on Rainkit, you can do it!" the lynx point tom said, looking down at his sister. Rainkit gulped, scanning the log with her green eyes. "O-Ok Falconkit." the she-kit said, crouching down. She leapt, and sank her claws into the bark, but began sliding. "Help?" she whimppered, scaping her claws to hold herself.

Apppleblossom leaned her head forward and gently grabbed ahold of Rainkit by her scruff. Sitting her over the log, she mewed, "Alright, inhale deeply through your nose and tell me what you smell."

The pretty brown tabby found these kits so amusing, and she desperately wanted some of her own. Taking a deep breath of her own, she could smell squirrel, mice and vole.

Rainkit and Falconkit nodded, both lifting thier heads to sniff the air. The sweet, tasty smell of squirrel, mice, and vole flew into thier nose. Falconkit licked his top jaw, "I smell squirrel. Can we try catching that Appleblossom?" the tom asked, glancing up at the she-cat with his bright blue eyes. Rainkit nodded, flicking one of her eyes as a gentle breeze flew over it from the front.

Appleblossom looked back down at the kits and mewed, "You can try, but I do believe that mice would be easier for your first hunt... maybe you'll get lucky though." The pretty tabby she-cat couldn't stop herself from purring with amusement as she watched the kits.

She felt a familar pang, at being mateless and she remembered how she has always craved a famliy of her own.

Falconkit pulled up a smirk, the kind that makes people raise an eyebrow at when someone's boosting, "We'll be able to get it no problem! Right Rainkit?" the tom kit meowed, turning to his smaller sister. Rainkit ran a paw down though the dirt, "Umm, I think so. Can..you show us how to start Appleblossom?" Rainkit asked, looking up at the she-cat with a hopefull glance.

With a loud purr, Appleblossom scented the air, and blinked in surprise when she actually scented a squirrel. Flicking her tail to the kits, she mewed, "Alright, crouch down like this - and look over there." The she-cat pointed with her tail over by a beech tree where a squirrel was munching on a nut. She slid into a crouch, to show the kits how and then said, "You need to crouch like this, and walk on your toes toward it. Once your at a leap's distance you need to leap on it. I'll creep around it so it doesn't escape, you two wait for my signal."

The she-cat left the kits and padded quietly through the bracken till she was on the other side of the squirrel and then flicked her tail, giving the kits the signal.

Falconkit and Rainkit nodded at the same time, both of thier eyes gleaming. Following Appleblossom's clues, Falcankit strenched onto the ground, keeping his tail low. Rainkit got next to her bigger brother, going slightly lower than him. "Falconkit, what if this doesn't work?" Rainkit asked with a worried blink of her green eyes. "Don't worry Rainkit, we'll catch this squirrel together!" Falconkit insured her with a smile. "Together?" Rainkit echoed, relaxing. Falconkit nodded, "Together." nociting the sigal Appleblossom had given them, he flicked an ear, "Now!!" with a spring of thier hindlegs, both kits started stalking toward the squirrel, keeping low. Rainkit watched the ground carefully while trying to keep an eye on the squirrel. Falconkit was going forward, his muscles ripping under his lyix point kit fur. Rainkit quickly placed a paw on Falconkit's shoulder, a sigh to stop. "Ready? One...two...three!" with a leap, both siblings landed on the squirrel. Rainkit grabbed hold on its fluffy tail, and backquaters while Falconkit got more of the middle and top. The squirrel tryed getting tree, but it met its fate as Falconkit and Rainkit both strenched thier necks forward, and bit the prey animal's neck, killing it.
