Dawn broke across the river, the already beginning to shimmer on the water's surface. Whitefrost pushed his way out of the warriors den and stretched gingerly, his white pelt glimmering in the early light.
Giving himself a gentle shake, he padded over to the apprentice's den and called inside quietly, "Creampaw?" He had been intending on getting up a little earlier than he had and taking his apprentice out for a border patrol before battle training. As it was, the dawn patrol had already left and he was simply going to have to do battle training and maybe catch the dusk patrol.
Stepping away from the den, he awaited his apprentice to slip outside the den, but while he was waiting he figured that he could at least groom himself, even though he was already pretty tidy. Oh well, nothing else to do, he thought to himself as he licked his left front paw and drew it over his ears.

The soft sigh of a young apprentice could be heard as the cream furred apprentice heard her name being called. She had awoken just a few moments earlier, thanks to the foot of one of the other apprentices. What was with cats that enjoyed shoving their foot in her face? Removing the paw from her face, she pushed aside the apprentice in her way and made her way out of the den.
As she emerged her eyes were caught looking in the direction of the ThunderClan camp, like she always did, each and every morning. Having been part of ThunderClan for half of her life, she somewhat missed it. She missed her mother and sibling, but not the name calling, teasing, and feeling like an outcast. RiverClan really had been the better choice. She got to be with her father, and be in a clan she was actually accepted.
Shaking her mind of all else, Creampaw looked to her mentor. Well, he seemed to be pretty busy grooming himself. She let out a snort of laughter and padded to him. "So what are the plans for today?"
she asked blinking her eyes. "Please tell me we are doing something other than grooming." Creampaw added, a slight tone of teasing in her voice.[/blockquote][/blockquote]

The burly white tom slightly started at the sound of Creampaw's voice, and bit into his paw. Shaking it with a low growl, he turned to face her his face softening at once. "Morning, sleepyhead," he rumbled with his deep voice.
As he stood, his powerful muscles rippled under his sleek pelt, he said, " I was actually thinking that we would do some battle training and then join the dusk patrol. Upon hearing his own belly rumble, he added mentally and hunting.
Warmly glancing at his apprentice again, he started padding towards the camp entrance, his tail flicking back and forth in a good nature.

Creampaw grinned at her mentor, did he just hurt himself while grooming? Now that was actually quite funny. Doing all she could to keep herself from laughing out loud she ended up snorting once again. "Morning."
she greeted him, ignoring the sleepyhead part. She hadn't slept that late, and how could anyone sleep with a mousebrain for a denmate? Battle training? That sounded perfect, and Creampaw couldn't help but flash another grin. She would be the best apprentice in the clan, she would prove that just because she was half-clan doesn't mean she couldn't amount to anything. She would show ThunderClan how much they had lost. They had lost a valuable apprentice. Her eyes were filled with determination. She was going to give it her all. And a dusk patrol? Well their day sounded like it was planned in full, and Creampaw was excited. It meant she wasn't going to sit around and do meaningless tasks, like pick the ticks off elders. Following after her mentor, she kept the determined look on her face. "I'm gonna be the best fighter in RiverClan. No one will be able to beat me!" she boasted. She knew her sibling was good at hunting, from what she had been told at Gatherings. Creampaw did not share that ability, she seemed better at fighting. Maybe by the next Gathering she could boast about being good at fighting.[/blockquote][/blockquote]

The steady white tom flicked his ear at his apprentice, and flicked his tail over her ear. "Already beating the whole clan, eh?" With an amused purr, he bounded off ahead of his apprentice and towards the training area.
Whitefrost felt powerful as he covered the sandy bank, sand flying from under his paws as he ran. He wasn't running fast, but he swelled with pride as he felt his muscles contract and release.
He looked over his shoulder, to see if Creampaw was following or not, taking his eyes off of his path for only a second before looking forward again.

Creampaw's eyes rolled and she grinned up at her mentor. Of course she was already beating the entire clan, she was just awesome like that! Most rules, in her opinion, did not apply to herself so without rules she felt quite free and sure that she would go far, and do so well. She was caught up in her own thoughts, imagining herself as a warrior, and before she knew it she was being left behind.
Frowning and soon noticing her mentor had left, Creampaw got onto her paws to follow him. Leave it to her to be daydreaming and get left. She caught her mentor looking at her every now and then. Probably checking up on me. she thought. Well she would show him.
Picking up her speed a little, she made sure to keep the tom within her sight. It wouldn't be long before she would be training, and learning about the clan. Creampaw was looking forward to turning herself into a RiverClan warrior that was full of muscles. She would train for as long as possible to get the awesome result. She was going to be powerful, she HAD to be.
"What are you going to teach me today?"
Creampaw called out, curious as to how much training would be going on, and how much would be required of her previous knowledge.[/blockquote][/blockquote]

The sturdy white tom felt a purr escape his throat as he watched his apprentice skitter about. He knew the young little she-cat was going to be a great warrior, even if she was half-clan. I guess ThunderClan is better than WindClan to be mixed with, he thought as he watched her slightly pick up her pace ahead of him. He enjoyed her enthusaim, it sure made her easier to teach! 'What are you going to teach me today?' she had just asked him. Snapping his attention back to his enthusiastic apprentice, and from his thoughts. "I was thinking maybe I would teach you how to do a backflip over an enemy." As he spoke these words aloud, began to rethink this judgement. This was a very advanced move, one normally taught to older apprentices, but looking at Creampaw he felt his heart soften. This she-cat could take it, he decided. Besides, she was the one convinced that she could take on the whole clan- and he had to admit that she advanced past her other apprentices when it came to battle moves. Creampaw had been born with skills, that some warriors were right to be jealous of. 198

Creampaw had stopped dead in her tracks as she heard her mentor’s reply. She was about to be taught a very advanced move. Her eyes were wide with excitement at this, and she was grinning widely. She had seen the older apprentices as they had learned this move, practicing it with eachother. Not only that, but they also gossiped about it. She knew she was quite young to learn this move, but who was she to question her mentor if he wanted to teach her an advanced move? A kit-like mewl escaped her mouth as she tried to contain her excitement.
”You are the best mentor ever.”
Creampaw said purring. She couldn’t wait to see her sibling now! Her sibling would be so jealous of her! She could even tell her mother how she had the most awesome mentor ever. Getting back onto her paws and beginning to follow her mentor, she had an added bounce in her step. She would be able to surpass some of the older apprentices now. She was feeling ecstatic. Creampaw knew she would have no trouble learning this, her mentor believed she was ready for something this advanced, so surely she could learn it quick. [/blockquote][/blockquote]

The burly white tom purred with amusement at his apprentice. This little she-cat was always fun to teach. He looked over at her amusement bubbling in his eyes as he said mischeiviously, "I guess you're an all right apprentice!" He ment this purely jokingly, of course. Even though Creampaw was his first apprentice, she would probably be the only to make him have so much fun while training her.
He looked at the little she-cat, a warm feeling bubbling in his mind. He found that he cared about this she-cat, possibly a little more than he should. With a flick of his ear, the white tom shook this thought away and veered off to a sandy part of the shore. Here rocks were spread out, and the deep sand provided and excellent place to train the clan apprentices. The sand provided a soft place to land, and the depth would stregthen their muscles.

Creampaw glanced at her mentor and held back a mocking gasp. She blinked at him and tried to hide her grin. ”I’m just okay? You sure I’m not the most awesome apprentice ever?”
Creampaw saw the mischief in his eyes, and couldn’t help but add in to the conversation. It was a fun little banter, and who didn’t need a little fun every now and then? It was then a wide grin spread across her face, no longer able to continue the seriousness. She had tried to keep serious, but having a mentor like she did, how could she? She followed her mentor to the sandy area and looked around. The cream furred apprentice was feeling her paws itching to go. They were clawing at the sand anxiously. The first time Creampaw had come, she had been so nervous at being trained but now she was brimming with confidence. She knew she could do whatever her mentor threw at her. Settling into the sand, curling her tail around her paws, the apprentice was now serious. No longer did she kid around, when it came to training she was going to give her all and not allow for distractions. Her full attention was to her mentor as she waited for him to explain what would be going on today. ”Will it be just us today or have you asked another mentor/apprentice pair to join us?” she asked. She hoped it would be just them today, she enjoyed the one-on-one time.[/blockquote][/blockquote]

The white tom flicked his tail at his apprentice and mewed, "Nope, it's just going to be us today. " Sitting down in front of Creampaw, he prepared to tell her about the difficult move that he would be teaching her. "Now, when you learn a back-flip, it's crucial to know when to use this move. This battle move is best used when your being cornered by an enemy. As you flip, you will flip over your enemy and you need to land and attack immediately. Always assume that your enemy can read your mind and knows what battle move you will try next. You need to surprise them, not let them surprise you. "
The tom reflected in his own mind how his mentor taught him. His mentor had taught him the flip and then ordered Whitefrost to attack him. Blinking his eyes he decied that, that was what he would do with Creampaw.

Creampaw was so glad that it would be just her and her mentor today. It lifted much of the pressure off her shoulders. Sure she didn’t mind showing off what she knew to the other apprentices, but she did not want to fail. Failure was not an option. Her eyes shone with determination and looked up at her mentor, she worked so much better with just this one-on-one time. Other apprentices were a waste of time. The light furred apprentice was now grinning widely. She was about to learn something advanced. Take that all other apprentices!
Once Whitefrost began his explanation, the apprentice had shut her mouth and was listening very carefully. She was even sitting still. Listening to his explanation, she nodded and waited for him to finish what he was saying. Once the tom had finished, Creampaw had a question occur in her mind. ”Does the size of the enemy matter also, or is this just strictly for anyone that we might face? I remember being told some moves work better on larger opponents, and some work better on the smaller ones. Is this one of those moves or can we use this on any opponent?”
Creampaw had been listening very carefully, and normally would just jump right into training. Her mentor had warned her about this advanced move, and she didn’t want to fail. Plus questioning was always encouraged, right?[/blockquote][/blockquote]

--whitefrost With a flick of his ear, the tom began to answer Creampaw's flurry of questions. "Yes, this can be used on any opponent, but it's only helpful when your backed up against something like a tree. This move orginated in ThunderClan, but we soon picked it up as well. It's helpful if your fighting in an area that isn't very maneuverable. There are some things you have to watch out for, and it's those things tha will get you hurt." Pausing for a breath, the bruly tom waited a heartbeat and spoke again, "Often one of the most common mistakes warriors make is they over jump. This causes them to land to far behind their enemy or they land to hard, causing them to be momentarily stunned or behind. Or they hit a tree branch.." he trailed off.

Creampaw’s attention span was quickly hindered for a few moments as she watched her mentor’s ear flick. But when he began to answer her questions, she sat and listened. Nodding, Creampaw listened and her ears perked up when she heard this move had originated in ThunderClan. It seemed she just couldn’t get away from that clan no matter how hard she tried. She let a mewl of surprise escape her mouth at this, but tried to keep quiet. A grin stretched across her face at one point. ”Pfft. I don’t get hurt, I’m too awesome to get hurt.”
she boasted. Creampaw was a tough little she-cat and she was going to act tough. ”So basically you are saying that the point is to not overjump and look like a mousebrain by crashing into a tree?” she tried to make light of the idea and attempted a smirk. She wasn’t going to be one of those mousebrains who hits a tree. No, she was going to practice until she did it perfectly. She wasn’t going to be made a fool out of. Creampaw was too intellectual for that. She wanted to prove herself, and she had a reason to strive to do even better.[/blockquote][/blockquote]

-- w h i t e f r o s t The sturdy white tom fought back a purr of amusement and attempted to fix Creampaw with a serious gaze. Twitching his whiskers he mummered, "I was a mouse-brain that hit a tree." He remembered the incident clearly. It was back when he was an apprentice and practicing on his own. He had ran towards the tree and ran up it, pushing off a little to hard. In the midst of the mid-air twist, he had careened into a tree limb and fell to the ground. His clanmates, hearing his screech of annoyance and pain had some running but he had told them that he had fell out of the tree because a hawk dove at him. They had laughed about it, but not has hard as they would have if they knew the truth. Shuffling his paws, he turned back to his apprentice and and mewed, "And you WILL be careful because it is dangerous- no matter how strong you are. "
