Thornpaw sat near the pile of fresh-kill, lazily grooming his fur with bored, half-hearted licks. He paused to yawn. At times like this, he wished that Oakpaw was with him, and he decided to go find her. She could always make him smile, even through tough times. After all, they were the best of friends.
He guessed that the brown she-cat was still sleeping in the apprentices' den, since it was only dawn. He poked his small-ish head through the entrance to the den, and spotted the dark shape of - what he assumed to be - Oakpaw in her nest. He silently manuevered his way around other sleeping apprentices, until he reached Oakpaw's nest.
Thornpaw gently prodded her in the side with a paw and tilted his head to the side. "Oakpaw, wake up!" he whispered. Only then did he realize that he had no reason to wake her up. He guessed that it was because he wanted to talk to her, but about what? Maybe he just enjoyed her presence.

Oakpaw's forest green eyes slowly opened as she felt the sharp prod of a cats paw in heralds. "Thornpaw...?" she guessed sleepily. She could make out the small arm outline of his body near the enterance of the den. Yawning, The young cat stood up and stretched her aching limbs. Oakpaw made her way the enterance, and pushed her way through the tunnel. The dim dawn light blinded her momentariy before she could actually could see the rest of the camp.
"Uhm...Thornpaw, did you need something?" she asked, her voice was as soft as snow. The Tom apprentance was handsome in the light, his lean body and legs glistene in the little bit of light peering over the moor. His muscles shown underneath his pelt, making him look slightly older than he looked.

Thornpaw followed Oakpaw out of the apprentices' den and blinked at the harsh sunlight that greeted him. Focusing his vision on Oakpaw after a few moments, he noticed her staring at him expectantly, waiting for an answer. At this moment, he didn't have one. He guessed that he was just feeling somewhat lonely and he wanted Oakpaw to be with him. But he couldn't say that; she'd think that he was only her friend so he could have someone to cheer him up.
Clearing his throat, Thornpaw shifted his weight from paw to paw awkwardly. "Er, not really, actually. I just... uh, sorry for waking you up," he muttered, ears growing warm in embarrassment. "You can go back to sleep, I mean, if you want." Although Thornpaw had a small frame, he was was a few hair-length's taller than Oakpaw. He looked down at her with an apoligetic expression in his green eyes.

“Its okay, Thornpaw. I needed to get up anyway, it’s nearly sun-high!” The little brown she-cat mewed. A small white paw dashed up and flicked the back of Thornpaw’s ears playfully. “Bet you won’t be able to catch me now!” As soon as the she-cat had taunted the young tom, she quickly dashed away. He’ll never be able to catch me, Oakpaw thought to herself. Before she could run any farther, her back paw gave way and she tumbled to the ground. “Mouse-dung! Thornpaw!” She yelled, laying on the hard WindClan camp ground.
Why couldn’t I have fallen someone softer? The thought kept going through her head. It was just her luck, hardly an apprentice and already falling and loping around the camp like a blind kit. Sighing, she just laid there waiting to see if her friend would answer her yowls.

Thornpaw jumped in surprise when Oakpaw suddenly swiped her paw at his ear, and he growled playfully. "I'll get you for that!" he hissed, dashing after her. Though only a few moments passed before Oakpaw suddenly tripped, and fell to the ground.
He heard her call out his name, and his cheerful expression suddenly turned into a frightened one. Now worried and anxious, Thornpaw rushed up to her and crouched down. "Oakpaw! Hey, are you alright?" he gasped, turning his attention on her hind left paw. It looked like it was twisted, but she might just have sprained it. Still, Thornpaw felt like it was somehow his fault that she got hurt.
