Ravenglide Blinking open his blue eyes, the tabby tom lifted his head slowly from his and Pinefur's nest in the warriors den. It was almost two days after the dog incident, and him admitting his feelings for the gorgeous she-cat. Half of the warrior's den was empty, with the dawn patrol and the first hunting patrols out. Looking over at his mate, the word felt so good even in his thoughts, mate. He admired how her dark brown pelt shined in the soft light that streamed through the gorse bush of the den. I don't want to wake her... he thought with a soft purr. Ravenglide fell for Pinefur hard, and even though the she-cat always seemed to think that he was so confident about how he felt about her, he wasn't really. He was head over heels that a cat like her would think twice about him. Flicking his ear at his own thoughts, the tom crept out of the nest, so he didn't disturb his mate and padded out of the warriors den. Once outside he stretched, feeling his muscles ripple with satisfaction and he let a purr of happiness leave him as he placed his front paw on the ground and didn't feel a slight sting of pain. Feeling this good calls for an amazing day of hunting with Pinefur, maybe she'll be up for it.... he thought, while glancing causally around the camp. Though some patrols were already out, the camp teemed with life. Kits were scuffling in the dirt with their mothers looking on with amused purrs. Some warriors laid around sharing tongues and grooming one another, it was another day in the life of a WindClan warrior... what could go wrong? 289

Pinefur slept soundly, her flanks slowly rising and falling. Her dreams were filled with Ravenglide, the two of them strolling through a golden field, pelts brushing and tails twined. She had never had a dream better than this. But once she woke up, she'd realize that she was already living her dream. She one side of her body grow slightly cooler, and that alone roused her from her slumber. She cracked her eyelids open and blinked a few times, waiting for her vision to adjust. She turned her head just in time to see the tip of Ravenglide's tabby tail vanish through the entrance to the warriors' den.
It had been two days after the dog incident, and she felt her paws tingle when she remembered that Ravenglide had confessed his love for her on the same day. Her muscles still ached, and the gash on her shoulder and flank were sure to leave scars, even though they were beginning to fade. A soft purr escaped her throat. She still couldn't believe that Ravenglide wanted her to be his mate. The thought of it alone still managed to make her blush.
Slowly, Pinefur climbed out of her nest, the scent of Ravenglide still fresh. She stretched her legs for a heartbeat before silently padding toward the entrance of the den, careful not to step on any tails along the way. As she emerged from the den, she identified Ravenglide's tall, tabby figure a few fox-lengths away and she trotted toward him with a shy smile. It was still somewhat difficult to get used to being mates with Ravenglide. "Good morning," she mewed softly as she padded up to his side, looking up at him with warm eyes.

Ravenglide The tabby tom heard a rustle at the mouth of the warriors den, and turned his head to see a pretty brown she-cat padding out. As she approached him and said, 'Good Morning.' The tom felt a purr rise in his throat. Touching his muzzle to his mates, he mewed quietly "Good Morning, Beautiful." Drawing in her scent, he felt his memories of the dog attack rush back at him. Blinking those images away from his mind, the tom glanced at her shoulder and flank noticing how her gashes were pretty much healed. Pulling his head away, he mewed, "Want to go hunting?" He wasn't sure that the she-cat would be up for it, and wasn't sure that she really needed to be hunting, but there was nothing that he would rather be doing than hunting with her. 144

Pinefur blushed as the handsome tabby leaned down to brush his muzzle against hers, his touch feeling almost foreign. The brown she-cat had forgotton what it felt like to make physical contact with someone, for example, simple, but affectionate gestures like the one Ravenglide had performed a heartbeat ago. Even when he pulled back, he left a tingling sensation on her muzzle which faded after a moment.
At his question, she almost didn't reply. Pinefur was lost in her own thoughts, which was something that happened more often than on whould think. She was thinking about her parents, and how they always were there for her. But she had Ravenglide, now. His voice pulled her back into reality, and she stammed when she replied, "Uh, s-sure." Normally, Pinefur would just go hunt by herself since she was too afraid to ask if she could join the dawn patrol. It would be the second time she had hunted with one other cat, since the day before, she and Ravenglide were still recovering from the dog attack. The dog. The memory of him ripping at her flank and shoulder made the blood drain from her face.'
But the sooner they left, the sooner she could push her dark thoughts out of her mind. Flexing her curved, delicate claws, Pinefur flicked an ear. "Er, let's go," she mewed quietly. She would've waited for Ravenglide's command, but hunting was the only thing that could clear her mind. Padding toward the camp entrance, she noticed Eaglescreech glaring at her with narrowed eyes, his lip barely turned back in a snarl. The sharpness of his eyes made her flinch, and she quickened her pace. Soon, she was pushing through the tunnel of brambles and burst out into the moor, taking in a deep breath of fresh air. Why had he looked so hostile?
Pinefur's expression was half-startled, and half-frightened. She wondered if Ravenglide knew why. Already, possibilities flooded into her mind. She whisked around, almost bumping into Ravenglide. She looked up at him with wide eyes. "Does Eaglescreech hate me?" she asked, her voice barely audible. Pinefur was a sensitive she-cat, and seeing Eaglescreech look at her like that made her feel degraded. She wanted Ravenglide to tell her that she was seeing things, but she knew that wasn't true. Still, even if it wasn't, Ravenglide could always make her feel better.

Ravenglide Startled at the smaller she-cat's sudden burst of confidence, Ravenglide felt his pelt warm with pleasure and she turned and headed for the camp entrance. This feeling fadded upon seeing the look of hatred that Eaglescreech had on his face towards Pinefur. Pushing after his mate, Ravenglide turned his face to Eaglescreech, his teeth bared in a snarl and let out a low guttural warning growl. Lashing his tail, she pushed out to his mate feeling his anger burn stronger. Stopping beside her, she had asked if Eaglescreech hated her. She knew how much this would bother her, and if that mousebrained tom thought that he could hurt her, Ravenglide would prove him wrong with his claws if he had to. "Eaglescreech is just jealous that he didn't fall in love with a pretty a she-cat as you," he mummered pressing his muzzle to her ear gently. He didn't want the small she-cat to see him angry, and was glad that she had left the camp before him. He didn't want to scare her. Pulling his muzzle back, he mewed, "I'll deal with him. Let's hunt." He would deal with Eaglescreech later. Even if it ment ripping off the other tom's ears. What was his deal with his hatred for Pinefur? It didn't make any sense. The quiet she-cat surely had never offended him. 227

Pinefur still didn't believe Ravenglide. Of course, Eaglescreech wasn't jealous of her. Besides, she'd seen him around camp with Redwhisker, anyway. Still, her mate's words made her relax a bit, the anxiety slowly fading from her eyes, being replaced with excitement. They could hunt now! Finally, she could clear her mind and focus on feeding her Clan.
"Okay," she mewed, and before she turned, she quickly pressed the side of her face against his chest. "And thanks." Pulling away from him, she gave him a nod and started down the sloped hill, relieved that there was no dog in sight. She kept close to Ravenglide, though, just in case it came back. If it did, Pinefur didn't know what she'd do without him.
It dawned on her that she might have been relying on Ravenglide too much. Telling him about Eaglescreech, thinking that he'd protect her if the dog came back... what about him? She had to do the same for him. After all, she couldn't live like this forever, being so pathetic and clumsy. Maybe she'd have a mock battle with him if she asked, so she could keep her fighting skills as good as they should have been.

--Ravenglide Twitching his ear, the tabby tom followed her slowly down the slope. His ears pricked for any sound of a dog. Stopping halfway down the slope to taste the air, and not scenting the dog- the tom relaxed. Picking up his pace he followed his mate, as they headed up another slope. Suddenly a strong musky scent hit Ravenglide's lungs and he flicked his tail to his mate. "Pinefur! Rabbits! It smells like a family are out." Ravenglide knew that several rabbits would feed his clan. Fluffing up his fur against the cold northern wind, that buffeted the moor, he looked back at his mate. "I'll go around the front, and drive them back to you. I'll grab any that escape, seeing as it smells that there are around four or five. " Twitching his ear, the tom turned and trotted sharply up the slope and veered to the left. He was going the long way, because there were so many. He didn't want to risk losing such a large meal. Once around them, to where he was upwind. He trotted swiftly forward and crouched under a bush, waiting for their attention to be diverted towards where Pinefur was before running out. After several heartbeats the lean tom raced out of the bush, flashing out his paws and grabbing one rabbit. Pausing long enough to kill it, he drove the rest down the slop towards Pinefur. 238

Pinefur nodded, her anxious gaze turning into a serious one as she crouched low to the ground and began to slowly inch her way around the rabbits in a large, half-circle. It took her a while to get to the opposite side of Ravenglide, almost alerting the rabbits a couple of times. How she managed; she didn't even know. But before she could even prepare herself, Ravenglide burst out of the undergrowth and chased the rabbits, bringing a few down. Although they were skinny, a family was enough to keep the Clan going for a quarter-moon, at least.
As the rabbits ran toward her, desperately looking for an escape, Pinefur charged forwards, surprising the rabbits, since they stumbled backwards in search of another route. But the brown-pelted warrior was too fast for them. As she hurdled herself toward her prey, she gave a strong push with her hind-legs and managed to snag two rabbits in her claws, bringing them down easily with a swift bite to the neck.
There were three rabbits remaining, and Pinefur chased after them. After a long time of running, Pinefur managed to hook her claws into one more, before slowing down from exhaustion, watching the last rabbit escape over the hills of the moore. No longer feeling discouraged. she trotted back to Ravenglide, the rabbit hanging from her jaws. "Nice catch!" she called out as loudly as she could manage, even while her voice was still quiet like always. As she dropped her prey onto the pile of rabbits they both caught. Pinefur decided that this was enough for the Clan, unless Ravenglide wanted to hunt some more. However, she had something else in mind.
Leaving her prey, Pinefur padded closer to where Ravendglide stood and looked up at him with hopeful eyes. "Ravenglide, do you want to go on a walk, before bringing the prey back to camp?" she asked, surprised how direct she had been with him. After being with Ravenglide for the past two days, she was slowly beginning to stutter less around other cats - but not by much.

--ravenglide The brown tabby tom watched his lithe mate take off after the rabbits, and felt a purr rumble in his chest as he watched her kill them neatly. As she trotted back towards him, mouth full of rabbit he felt another wave of emotions flash over him. 'Ravenglide, do you want to go on a walk, before bringing the prey back to camp?' His beautiful mate had asked. She had asked? She was finally feeling brave enough to ask him things directly. Blinking warmly at the older she-cat he replied, "Of course, I would like to come for a walk with you Pinefur." Stepping away from their pile of prey, he started walking up the slope, glancing over his shoulder to see that the she-cat was following him. [[modified 2-15-12]]

Pinefur felt her heart warm at Ravenglide's response to her hopeful request. In her mind, she let out a squeak of excitement, and scampered after him - almost in a kit-like fashion. She met him by his side, but then her paw suddenly stumbled over a stone and let out a yelp of surprise as she bumped into him, her face being pushed into his fur. Her face redened in embarrassment, and she she quickly mewled, "Sorry!"
But once she relaxed, she found it was so much more comfortable when she was pressed up against Ravenglide, his familiar, musky tom-like scent reminding her that she was safe and sound. Besides, he was so warm... Maybe she could stay like this, she figured. It wouldn't hurt... would it? Oh, this was what couples always did... right? Pinefur had no idea of what couples usually did, but since she felt it was right, she decided to go with it. Ravenglide wouldn't mind - or so she thought.
"I'm really glad that I get to spend time with you," she suddenly blurted out. The brown she-cat blushed, and looked away, not wanting to meet Ravenglide's heart-melting eyes. His gaze, alone, could freeze her on the spot and make her want to stay like that forever. Was that what other couples felt? Stop thinking about others! It's only you and him, she told herself after almost getting lost in her own thoughts. Yes, it was about them, not anyone else. It didn't matter what other couples did... whatever she and Ravenglide did was their choice, and if she wanted to walk beside him, then she would.

--ravenGLIDE Walking with Pinefur was so easy, for the tabby tom. He was thrilled that she seemed to be at ease with, and wanted to be close to him. Twining his tail into hers, he pressed against her and mummered, "Oh, Pinefur I love spending time with you too. I would rather spend everyday with you than with anyone else." As the pair walked, up the slope, Ravenglide's paws instinctively headed for the woods where they had been only a few days ago. The woods were beautiful in Leaf-Fall, as the the leaves began to change colors and fall from the trees. It was at this time of the year that the tom actually felt envious of the ThunderClan cats. They got to live in this beauty all of Leaf-Fall, and he only got to see it when he got to this side of the territory. Glancing down at his beautiful mate he mummered, "How's the paw?" Looking down at her he felt captivated by her brilliant green eyes and sleek brown pelt. She was just breathtakingly beautiful. Her clumsiness around him amused him, and how she always seem to stumble on words amused him.
