It was sunset, and the rest of the clan was settling down to eat and share-tongues. The grey tabby she-cat had just returned from a hunting patrol with a few of her clan-mates. She had caught a water vole, and a trout and felt slightly proud of herself- as proud as she ever did. As she placed her fresh-kill on the pile, and picked up her water vole, the she-cat felt her pelt warm with embarrassment. No one was really watching her but she hated the idea of anyone glancing at her.
Jerking up the vole, the she-cat walked quickly along the shadows of the camp- not the clearing… never the clearing, and found her usual place to eat under a low hanging willow tree. Since it was leaf-fall there were piles of the narrow leaves under the tree, and the she-cat settled herself onto the one she had raked up that morning.
Tucking into her vole, the she-cat peered through the gently swaying branches of the willow tree. Her eyes, momentarily rested on each warrior as she blinked her blue eyes, and moved on to the other.
Chewing on the musky wood-land prey, she watched her clan-mates as they laid easily around each other. A strange feel bothered her, one she was familiar with. Jealousy, she was jealous of the bonds her clanmates had with each other. Why can’t I be normal? she thought miserably.

Flurrycloud sniffed at the prey pile. His gray fluffy tail flicked back and forth. Things hadn't been the same since Graywater left RiverClan. The tom's previous mate didn't feel like she belong in the clan. It hurt Flurrycloud only because he had never cared about anyone as much as he did her. It was odd. Taking a vole he padded to a small isolated corner where he could be alone. That day just a few nights ago stung the tom.
"I gotta say what's on my mind Flurrycloud, something about us doesn't seem right these days, life keeps getting in the way. It's so hard to say but I've got to do what's right for me, you will be okay. I've got to move on and be who I am. I just don't belong here I hope you understand. We might found our place in this world some day. I....I've got to go my own way." the she-cat let her eyes water and her tail droop on the ground her silver whiskers twitched and she brushed her furry tail along the toms flank before heading out of the camps entrance.
Flurrycloud listened. His ears pulled back with grief. What...what is this?"What about us? What about everything we've been through? From kit hood to warrior hood.....I'll miss you... why do you have to go? I just don't understand..."
The she-cat didn't even look back she shook her head and let her tail flick and a miserable goodbye. She just didn't belong in RiverClan. This wasn't her home. She felt better being free. Soon her body disappeared and Flurrycloud was left alone. Forever
The tom nibbled on his vole. He didn't even want it. Pushing it aside he blinked back the painful memory. His soft gaze fell on Briarmoon he seemed to be staring at the cats who were sharing tongues. Was she lonely too? The tom knew she was timid and was afraid of cats in the clan. He didn't know of her past, but there must have been a reason.
Forcing himself to his paws he cautiously made his way towards the she-cat. He moved slowly he didn't want her to run off. With a low sigh he looked at her. He didn't get to close but he wasn't far away either. His whiskers twitched in greeting as he inched closed."How....how are you Briarmoon?"

As the grey tabby she-cat watched her clan-mates she noticed out of the corner of her eye that a certain tom called, Flurrycloud was walking her way. She knew very little of the toms past, and she didn't pry enough to know more. As he walked towards her, she felt a surge of panic. Fighting the urge to back up against the tree, she felt her eyes widen as he said, 'How....how are you Briarmoon?'. She had the oddest feeling as he said her name, he knows my name?. Blinking her eyes at him she opened her mouth to speak and found herself stammering.
"F-fine, Flurrycloud." Great StarClan, she was horrible at speaking. She only spoke in the clan when spoken to and even then she flushed with embarrassment horribly. Since her mother had died, and she had grew up with Minnowrush, not that Minnowrush wasn't a great mother- she was, Briarmoon had felt lost without her birth mother. As her mind wandered, her blue eyes never left Flurrycloud. It was only after a few heartbeats that she realized that she was being very-very rude. "H-How a-are you?" Even when she attempted to hold a basic conversation, it was awkward. Wasn't it polite to return the question in this case? She didn't know.

Flurrycloud pulled his ears back and let his tail drop. The one chance he thought about recovering and making a new friend seemed almost done. He raised a brow when the she-cat backed up but she answered him which in his eyes seemed to be be a dire improvement when it came to other cats. His soft blue eyes met hers for just a moment. He decided at this point in time it was best not to move any closer. He didn't want to give the RiverClan warrioress a heart attack. He parted his jaws to speak but no words came out. Was she not there three dawns ago when his mate left the clan?
Clearing his throat the tom gave the she-cat a nod of respect."I'm not here to hurt you Briarmoon. If it makes you comfortable I won't move any closer. You can relax." The tom mewed in a soft voice. Almost a near whisper. He wanted his tone to be soothing. Not rought and rigid like it normally was when he spoked to the toms of the clan. He knew this she-cat was timid. He didn't want to ruin the chance of friendship."I've been better, but it's a new day Briarmoon. Life goes on the clans. How has your day been?" he asked. Trying to make small talk with the warrioress.

This if Flurrycloud. He's not going to hurt me, his mate just left him and the clan for StarClan's sake! Calm down! Forcing her fur to lie down she took a deep breath and sat down. "You can sit down, if you want." she mummered. Looking into the toms face, she felt like she was staring into the river.
"My day's been... well I've had better too.... How are you?" She ment how was he doing about the loss of his mate, she was just trying to be friendly and wasn't very good at it she didn't think. He was a nice tom. She had always known that, maybe he can be a friend. It's awful lonely to be alone all the time. She would like to have a friend to eat with, and hunt with- maybe then she would have a shot at being normal?
