Tornshadow nodded as the apprentice crouched down, belly fur barely lifted above the ground, but then frowned when he began to wave his tail back and forth. "No, Crowpaw, watch me." The muscular brown tabby crouched low to the ground, like Crowpaw, but instead his tail was kept straight and slightly elevated off the ground. "You must keep it from touching the ground otherwise your prey will hear you and flee." he explained. He didn't know why he was so.. thoughtful today, but he realized that he had been like that ever since he tripped on Hollyheart and rolled down the slope with her.

Crowpaw nodded, lifting his tail off the ground and keeping it still. "Like that?" he meowed, examining his mentor's pose. The black and white apprentice was sure he had it right this time, and he thought he was ready to actually try and catch something. He smelt the air, trying to locate the smell of rabbit, or some other prey.

Tornshadow nodded in approval as his apprentice mimicked his position. "Excellent." he praised, his eyes gleaming in amusement. He liked how Crowpaw was so determined, and how he was trying his best. He noticed the black tom sniffing the air, and twitched an ear inquiringly. "Alright, tell me what you can smell." he instructed, opening his jaws slightly to distinguish wether Crowpw was correct when he answered.

OCC: We should have the dog from RC over here, the dog fled to WC terri
Crowpaw stuck his nose up in the air, he wanted to make sure he could smell something. "Rabbit," he meowed confidently. "And, something else." he meowed, this time his meow was more uncertain. "I-I don't know what it is." he confessed.

Tornshadow nodded approvingly and flicked his tail."Good," he praised, trotting up to Crowpaw. He sniffed the air also, and frowned. "That's the stale scen of fox. When sents are stale, they are difficult to identify." he explained, glancing down at Crowpaw to see wether the apprentice was paying attention.

OCC: Fine....*Grumbles*
"Oh, okay." Crowpaw nodded, half paying attention to what his mentor meowed. "Could the fox be around, I mean couldn't it still be on Windclan territory?" he asked, looking up at Tornshadow. The black and white tom twitched his nose, the fox scent was stale, but what if it didn't run off of their territory. Some cat could get attacked!

Tornshadow frowned and flicked Crowpaw's ear with his tail in annoyance when he noticed the young apprentice wasn't paying attention. When he asked if the fox was still on WindClan territory, Tornshadow gave another sniff and shrugged. "Well, we could try to track it, but it's scent is about two or three days old, so I don't think it would still be on our territory." he pointed out thoughtfully. Crowpaw could be right, but Tornshadow was more confident that the fox had left his territory.

OCC: It's fine , OMG SWEET IS LOSING HER MUSE Crowpaw nodded, though his yellow eyes kept glancing off toward the scent of the fox. The young apprentice had never actually seen a fox in person, though he'd heard the elders describe them plenty of times. Large, dark ginger creatures the elders had said, they had tall, black pointy ears like a cat. Though foxes had long muzzles, sort of like dogs. And they had sharp, yellow teeth and bushy tails that had a black tip. He tried to imagine what one of them would look like, using the descriptions he knew. The black nosed apprentice starred off into the sky, an image of a fox forming in his head.

Tornshadow raised a brow at Crowpaw and twitched his whiskers impatiently. "Alright, now that you know the basics of hunting, let's try to catch something." he meowed brusquely, sitting taller. He wanted to see what Crowpaw already knew without teaching him everything yet, after all, it would be a good place to start if he knew what to teach him. "Now, try scenting something. Don't forget to keep yourself well hidden." Tornshadow took a step back to give the apprentice some space, and crouched low to the ground as he watched Crowpaw with attentive eyes.

Crowpaw nodded, his mentor breaking him out of his thoughts. The black nosed tom crouched close to the ground, sniffing the air for any hint of prey. He could smell the faint scent of rabbit in the distance, and apprentice walked forward slowly. After a few moments of walking along the moor, Crowpaw spotted the rabbit nibbling on some grass. The white pawed apprentice crouched down, slowly walking aross toward the rabbit. After Crowpaw decided he was close enough, the tom rushed forward, leaping on top of the brown creature. He pinned it down with his paws and quickly killed it. My first catch!

A purr of amusement sounded behind Crowpaw as Tornshadow padded up to him. "Great catch." he praised, his eyes glowing with pride. Right then, he realized that he and Crowpaw would get along quite well. "Alright, that's a pretty big catch you've got there, so I think we can head back to camp now. We can go hunting again later." he instructed, giving Crowpaw a tiny nod of approval when he mentioned the rabbit.

OCC: Where's your picture?
"Thanks," Crowpaw meowed kindly when his mentor praised his kill, I bet Cherrypaw couldn't catch a rabbit this big! Speaking of my sister, where is she? The black nosed tom looked around for a second, trying to catch a wiff of the two other cats in the breeze. Pherhaps they were already at camp, Crowpaw hoped so. He wanted to brag about the plump rabbit her caught, he wanted to see the impressed look on Cherrypaw's face.
"Oh, okay." the white pawed tom meowed, following his mentor back to camp. He carried the brown creature in his jaws, though it was fairly heavy. The rabbits hind legs dragged across the ground, and sometimes when the black and white apprentice stopped for a moment it's fluffy tail hit the grass. "Are we almost to camp?" he asked, his voice muffled from his mouthful of rabbit fur.

Tornshadow padded back to camp in silence; Crowpaw by his side with the plump rabbit dragging on the ground. Just when Crowpaw asked if they were close to camp, the familiar dip in the ground came into view. "Actually, we're already home." he reflected, the hollows that served as dens could be seen from where Tornshadow was standing.

"Yes!" Crowpaw murmured, happy that he soon would not have to lug around the heavy rabbit anymore. The black nosed tom rushed forward, just barely being able to lift the rabbit off the ground. His eyes shined as he got closer to camp. The apprentice was sure his mother would be proud of him, with a catch as big as his it was impossible not to be. (CAMP))
