Badgerpaw was filled with dread as she heard a large 'crackk'. A black-and-white tom flailed in the air as the small branch he was on plummeted to the ground. The apprentice dashed to the bottom of the tree, looking up. But it was too late. Shadegaze fell to the ground, skull hitting a sharpened rock. a large gash was put in it, and blood dropped to the forest floor. Bagderpaw rushed to the dying warriors side.
Badgerstep woke up with a start. Her muscles were tense, and her breath was short. Her mind was stuck on the nightmare she had just woken up from. She stood up briskly, winding thought the occupied nests to keep from stepping on anyone. Slipping out of the den, the night air clung to her pelt. She trotted out of camp. "I'm just going for a walk," she whispered to the cat on vigil. OOC: Yuck. Not very much muse. |:

Spottedpelt shifted in her nest as she heard a shuffling coming from the nest beside hers, along with a slight breeze blowing past her. Confused, the calico warrior drowsily sat up and caught the familiar scent of Badgerstep lingering in the air. "Badgerstep?" she murmured, climbing out of her nest and padding into the clearing. "Hello." she muttered awkwardly to her Clan mate who was on night-watch, and silently slipped into the camp entrance.

Badgerstep flicked her ear as she thought she heard someone murmur her name. But, she decided it was just the wind. She padded drowsily a few lengths into the territory, when she stepped on a root and did a face-plant in the mud. She sat up, grumbling. "Nice one, Badgerstep," she told herself, and started trying to scrape the mud off her face. Turning around, she caught sight of Spottedpelt. "Oh, Hi Spottedpelt. The she-cat said this quietly, but tried to be optimistic.

Spottedpelt was about to confront Badgerstep when the black and white warrior tripped and fell to the ground. Before she could say anything, she had already seen Spottedpelt. "Hi, Badgerstep." she smiled. Curiosity prickled through her fur. "Er, what are you doing so late at night?" she asked, narrowing her eyes slightly in suspicion.

It took Badgerstep's sleepy mind a moment before she replied to Spottedpelt. "I had a nightmare. Uh, sorry if I woke you up," she said apoligetically. "Do you want to take a walk with me?" She asked, wanting to do something instead of being still. Her black tail twitched, and she decided not to wait for a reply. She turned around, and started walking. "You coming?"

Spottedpelt snorted and nudged Badgerstep gently. "Of course you didn't, furball." she purred in amusement, a grin playing at her lips. She ignored her friend's jumpiness, and ran after her until she was matching paw-for-paw with Badgerstep."So, was your nightmare that bad to have woken you up?" she suddenly mewed, worried for her friend.

Badgerstep grinned as her friend ran after her. Now that Spottedpelt was running, she started running too. They were then running, their pawsteps matching, when the other she-cat suddenly asked, "So, was your nightmare that bad to have woken you up?" Badgerstep stopped in her tracks. A million thoughts raced through her head. Should I tell her? I know I can trust her, she is one of my best friends, after all. But would it get out? Spottedpelt isn't the kind to tell secrets, in my opinion. After thinking a moment, she mewed awkwardly, "I guess."

Spottedpelt frowned when Badgerstep stopped in her tracks, and turned around to trot back to her. She suddenly felt the uncomfortable atmosphere around Badgerstep, and instantly regret her foolish question. "Er, sorry. If you don't want to talk to it, that's okay." she murmured, shifting from paw to paw as an awkward silence filled the air.

Spottedpelt turned around to trot back towards Badgerstep. She was uncomfortable. Like her friend, she instantly felt the atmosphere around herself change, even though it was changed unintentionally. "Uh, it's okay. I guess I need to talk about it eventually, anyways. I can't keep it forever." She watched her friend shift her weight from foot-to-foot, and started twitching her tail unconciously.

Spottedpelt raised a brow in slight surprise, but kept herself silent for a moment longer. She suddenly stood to her paws and started forward slowly, casting a glance over her shoulder at Badgerstep as a gesture for her to follow. "So, what was this dream about?" she mewed bluntly, her curiosity winning over her thoughts.

Spottedpelt stood, and started to walk away. She looked over her shoulder at Badgerstep, indicating for her to come. The she-cat was a little surprized at how open she was with her question; most cats, not knowing very well, and because of her shyness, would have slowly edged onto that topic. It happened quite alot. "It was about when Shadegaze died," she replied, looking around.

Spottedpelt felt guilty for asking such a sensitive question, and pressed her nose into Badgerstep's fur in an attempt to comfort her friend. "Was it.. where he died?" she asked slowly and gently. She figured that her nightmare would be of where Shadegaze had fallen to his death. Spottedpelt shuddered inwardly. She never wanted to experience something like that, but on the other paw she felt bad for Badgerstep since she has lost someone she loved dearly.

"Yes," she said, almost shivering. But she held it in. Seeing someone die was not something she wanted to repeat. Ecspecially if it was one of her few friends. She stood up, flicking her tail back and fourth. "Should we keep going?" She inquired, looking at her friend. [/style] |

Spottedpelt felt a stab of sympathy for her friend, and gave Badgerstep's ear a swift lick as though saying, "I'm sorry for your loss." She didn't want to continue their conversation, so she decided to change the subject. "Sure, if you want. So, are there any toms, say, you have taken a fancy to in our Clan?" she purred, a teasing sparkle in her silver-gray eyes. She was relieved to stop talking about death, and relaxed more.

Badgerstep was happy to be off the subject of Shadegaze. Padding infront of her friend, she twitched her whiskers. "Hmm..." she replied. "Are there any toms I've taken interest in any toms..." looking up, she put on her best 'curious face'. "How about, if you win the race I'll tell you?" she suggested, hoping Spottedpelt would ask what race she was talking about. Her tail twitched slowly as she looked at the other she-cat. [/style] |
