Duskpaw sighed, slowly padding out of the apprentices' den. He let his nervous gaze wander around the camp clearing, and he heard his belly rumble. Instinctively, he began to make his way toward the pile of fresh-kill, but then he remembered that he hadn't hunted for the Clan first. He hissed at himself for being so mouse-brained, and hung his head sadly as he turned and padded toward a shady spot beneath a tree that hang over the clearing.
Duskpaw lie down, and rested his chin on his paws, while keeping his tail close to his flank. Why did he hae to escape from his treacherous father that dark day? He should've just died while he could, and not suffer the feeling of difference by joining ThunderClan. He was never meant to be a Clan cat, and he knew it. If only there were a way for him to fit in, he thought. "Maybe I should just leave..." he muttered under his breath, considering the heavy proposal in his mind.

Cedarpaw walked into the camp, coming back from a boarder patrol. She wasn't really hungry or tired. She said Duskpaw laying under a tree. So the she-cat decided to join him. Hey Duskpaw, How is it going? She asked him.

Duskpaw lifted his head in surprise when he heard his name being spoken in front of him, and he looked up to see Cedarpaw. He still felt a bit uncomfortable about socializing with other cats in his new Clan, but he was grateful that at least it wasn't Shadeclaw.
Trying to think of something to say, Duskpaw uncertainly scuffled his front paws in the dirt. "Hi... uh..." Oh, no. What was her name again? It was on the tip of his tongue, but he just couldn't remember it. Examining her pelt, her name suddenly popped up in his head. "Cedarpaw. I'm f-fine..." he meowed quietly, trying not to stammer too much.

She looked at him and then blinked. Why is he stammering? She thought. She really did not know him but she wanted to get to know him. But what could she say? Cedarpaw wasn't really good at talking to others or starting conversations. Every time she had tried, it either came out wrong or she would just give up on trying to explain. So how's life? she asked.

Duskpaw was confused by Cedarpaw's question. "How's life"? His life was horrible. He had just been taken into a strange "Clan", with no family or any comfort of any kind. Not to mention he had rogue blood, which made others question his loyalty. How could she ask him something like that?
"Uh.. it's o-okay.. I g-guess.." he asnwered weakly, still not daring to look Cedarpaw in the eye. This was all a very new experience to him, and he didn't know what to do. He had been assigned a mentor, but his own mentor didn't even like him that much. It seemed hopeless for Duskpaw.

Now that she saw that he wasn't even looking at her, she wanted to yell at him, but what good would that do? Instead she was very calm. Duskpaw, Im not going to hurt you or anything. I want to help you. She said.

Duskpaw was shocked at Cedarpaw's few words, and for once he looked up at her without thinking. "Help me? Help me with what?" he retorted, his words being a bit more harsh that he'd expected. How could Cedarpaw - or anyone for that matter - help him? The only thing anyone had ever done to him was hurt him, and he never wanted to experience that sort of pain ever again. Though he relaxed after the wave of anger that had flowed through him left, and he lowered his eyes to the ground again. "Why are you even talking to me?" he muttered, still schocked that someone as nice as Cedarpaw had even thought of having a conversation with him.

Cedarpaw was shocked at what he had said.Well maybe if you thought about it, I want to be friends with you! She snapped. She just couldn't take it anymore. Why was he so sour? She wanted to walk away but didn't. All cedarpaw did was sit there.

Duskpaw flinched, eyes widening at the anger in Cedarpaw's voice. Though he was more surprised at what she had said. She wanted to be friends with him? With a rogue? His mind reeled, and suddenly he felt a wave of guilt flood over him.
"You d-do? But w-why?" he sputtered, looking Cedarpaw in the eye this time. Duskpaw had never had a true friend before, nor one who was a wild Clan cat for that matter. But maybe this wasn't a bad thing after all, he decided uncertainly.

The she-cat felt bad for yelling at him. Because we both are aloneShe didn't really know what else to say to him. She had a troubled past but not like his. His was far more worse than her's and she understood that.

Duskpaw didn't know what to say. How could Cedarpaw be alone? He didn't understand. She had her friends, and the entire Clan as her family. Duskpaw had nothing. "... I... I don't know what to do," he meowed softly, his silver-gray eyes clouding with grief and loneliness.

The she-cat looked at him. Do you want to walk around the territory? I know that Leafwhisper will come with us and then he will go hunting while we talk and hang out? She asked. She knew that Leafwhisper would agree to it cause he had done it before for her. She had always asked him to go for a walk and then just sit out in the woods by herself.[/blockquote]

Duskpaw shifted uncomfortably. He had only been outside of camp a couple of times, and each time he had been frightened and alert in case something would attack him. He didn't want to exerience the fear that he'd felt when he was escaping from his father. Though now, Cedarpaw's friendly smile comforted him, and even encouraged him. Rising to his paws, he even managed a shy smile. "S-sure, I guess.." For once in his life, Duskpaw felt a bit excited. Maybe not a bit, actually. Someone actually wanted to be his friend!

The she-cat smiled and then looked around for the warrior, when she spotted him she gave him a signal and he walked to the camp entrance and she followed. Cedarpaw turned to see if Duskpaw was following, She then turned her head back to Leafwhisper had dissapeared. At least were away from camp. She thought
