Wolfjaw's golden eyes gleamed in the deep purple twilight. He paced the earth several fox lengths from the entrance to Shadowclan camp. The day had seemed like moons to him, but now it was almost dark. He wasn't used to this feeling that seemed to have consumed his very existence. He thought back to when he had asked Spottedpelt at sunrise if she would go hunting with him that night. Somehow he still couldn't believe she had said yes. It had taken him a while to realize that he had feelings for her, before that he just found her to be an impressive cat and enjoyed her company, but lately they seemed to be on more patrols together. Lately he really got to know her, and he wanted to know more. He was starting to get ancy though, Maybe she isnt coming after all? Maybe she was too tired? He swallowed and shook his head really hard. He was acting mouse brained, he wasnt some love struck apprentice following after a warrior with moon eyes. Forcing himself to sit down, he started to groom his chest. I must look like a mousebrain! he thought to himself, the huge Wolfjaw with killer instincts my tail! he purred to himself, knowing that however crazy his thoughts were on the inside, on the outside he would just look like Wolfjaw. The big gray tomcat with yellow eyes, a gruff voice and a kind heart, for the most part. Without realizing it his tail started to thump rhythmically in anticipation. ooc: wasnt sure where we wanted to start them at so I improvised. and maybe posted a bit too much. He was just on a roll.

ooc;; Nah, that's perfect. Wolfjaw will have to work it to get Spottedpelt's attention, since she's more of a plays-hard-to-get.
Spottedpelt looked up at the darkening sky, then glanced around camp, before rising siwftly to her paws and trotting toward the camp entrance. Other cats would've forgotton, but Spottedpelt hadn't forgotton. Only that morning at sunrise, Wolfjaw had surprisingly asked her if she'd wanted to go hunting with him that night. Suprised, but delighted at the idea, she had agreed. Hunting was one of her favorite activities, and she only thought that fighting was neccessary to protect your loved ones, and not just over a few scraps of prey.
Her mainly white, calico-spotted pelt gleamed under the rising moon, and their appeared to be dazzling stars in her silver-moon colored eyes. She squeezed through the camp entrance, and shook off a few loose thorns as sh emerged into the marshy territory. Her eyes met Wolfjaw's, and she smiled fondly. "Seems like you haven't forgotton after all," she purred in amusement, flicking his ear lightly with her long, soft-furred tail. Of course, she had doubted Wolfjaw just a little bit, thinking that maybe he had to go on a night-patrol or something else. But no - he came.

Wolfjaw turned to see her emerge from the entrance. Her words almost made him laugh, how could he have forgotten? "My memory isn't that bad," he teased back, twitching his ear she had flicked with her tail. Then he made the mistake of looking into her eyes, which seemed to shine brighter then silverpelt. "Still up for hunting?" He wasn't about to make her go if she was tired, or didn't feel like it. But he felt mouse-brained for asking, knowing it would key her in that his cool collected appearance was an act and on the inside he was really terrified of messing things up. She didn't know how he felt, at least he didn't think she did. Being a tomcat he had little skill at reading what she was feeling, which left his mind open to speculation. ooc: oh he's up for the challenge, he's a bit in a cloud at the moment, and not used to liking someone, but he's got game when he wants it haha

Spottedpelt's eyes locked for Wolfjaw's for a moment, and she caught her breath. Though the moment ended as quickly as it had started, and she turned away so he couldn't see the faint blush on her face. Almost immediately forgetting about it, she returned to being bright and cheerful.
"'Course I am, you stupid furball," she snapped, though her words weren't sharp, and instead laced with amusement and humor. As the moon rose higher in the night sky, their surroundings darkening, until Spottedpelt could barely make out the outline of Wolfjaw's large, muscular body.

Wolfjaw rose to his paws and gave a lopsided grin, he was famous for those, it was like his mouth couldn't smile strait. "Hope you're not afraid of the dark," he retorted in good humor. " hunting at night its my specialty," He bragged a bit, as if to taunt her. He knew she was a better hunter than him in daylight, but maybe at night, in his element, he could stand a chance of at least matching her skills. Being of a larger size made it easy for him to trip or make noises when trying to hunt. it frustrated him to no end. Leading the way he took a few paces, then looked back to see if she was following, his dark body almost blended into the night, except his huge yellow eyes glowed bright with the reflection of the moon. Now you just have to impress her he thought to himself. As long as you dint trip you should do just fine

Spottedpelt, being quite the independent she-cat she was, snorted at Wolfjaw's accusation. Hunting at night was even more enjoyable than during the daytime to Spottedpelt, and she found it amusing that Wolfjaw would think she'd be scared. Typical tomcats. "Why? So I can hold your paw when you get scared?" she meowed matter-of-factly, raising an eyebrow.
Following Wolfjaw, it wasn't hard to make out the outline of such a large warrior through the dim moonlight. Catching up with him, she got lost in the beautiful stars of Silverpelt and didn't notice when she faltered her pawsteps and accidentally brushed her fur against Wolfjaw's. Blushing, she moved away and lowered her gaze to her paws as they walked on. Muttering a quiet apology, she frowned slightly as her fur tingled in the spot where it had brushed Wolfjaw's, and it was gone before she could establish what it had meant.

Wolfjaw shook his head at her response, his eyes shinning in laughter. "Oh no she's on to me!" He exclaimed in mock fear. His whiskers twitched in amusement. She would certainly make this interesting for him, no doubt about that. When her fur brushed into his, a shiver ran down his spine. Instantly she apologized, but his mind was screaming Don't be sorry Since touching they walked a bit farther from each other. Wolfjaw thought quickly. He wanted to break this tension that seemed to be growing by the heartbeat. Lets make this interesting, whoever catches the most pray wins" he suggested, his eyes sparkling in the moonlight. He had shifted his weight to an almost playful position as he spoke.

Spottedpelt let out an inaudible breath of relief as Wolfjaw lifted the growing tension that lingered in the air, and she relaxed a bit. The embarrassed look on her face vanishing, she turned to look at Wolfjaw with her eyes narrowed. "But how will it be interesting if you already know that I'll win?" she pointed out, a challenging gleam in her silver-gray eyes as an amused grin spread across her lips. You'd think that such an excellent hunter like Spottedpelt would go easy on Wolfjaw, but she would do the complete opposite. Spottedpelt plays hard-to-get, and when she's got her mind on something, she's determined to get it.

"Oh, because I might just surprise you." he mewed confidently. "If you're so sure you'll win you have nothing to lose." He blinked and tipped his head to the side. This wasn't over, she'd have to learn that he wasnt that easy to predict. He padded close to her till he was looking right down into her eyes and mewed, "Go." just before dashing off into the trees he took a risk and took a risk and pressed his nose gently into hers. He smiled before he took off flicking his tail playfully to egg her on. Let the games begin.

Spottedpelt raised her eyebrows at Wolfjaw's confident statement, but for once said nothing in reply, and instead waited impatiently for his signal to begin the hunt. Though as she stood still, waiting, she was surprised to find Wolfjaw padding toward her, until he was a hair-length away from her face. Before she could take a few steps backwards to give herself some space, she unfortunately got lost in Wolfjaw's brilliant golden gaze.
Dazed, Spottedpelt didn't notice when Wolfjaw leaned down and touched noses with hers. The feeling sent a warm shiver down her spine, and her paws seemed frozen to the ground. After such a bold act, Spottedpelt unseathed her claws and was ready to take his ears clean off, but for once, something held her back. Was it his smile that gave her a sense of security? Was it the way he laughed at her sharp words? Whatever the reason was, it stopped Spottedpelt from retaliating and instead left her with a feeling of... wanting.
Spottedpelt never thought that a tom could ever match her sharp tongue or clever mind. Somehow, as Wolfjaw dashed off with a smile of mischief on his face, Spottedpelt was determined to get revenge on him. But not the type of revenge that one would have in mind. If he was going to pull tricks out of his sleeve, than so was Spottedpelt. I'll show him who's surprising! she vowed in her mind, a grin spreading across her face before she quickly ran off toward the opposite direction in which Wolfjaw chose.

"Oh, because I might just surprise you."Wolfjaw parted his jaws to try and pick up the scent of prey. With such a bold move, he'd need to actually live up to his words now and catch something. Now your acting like yourself He thought, remembering the look of shock that had spread across Spottedpelt's face. You're just lucky she didn't claw your ears off, because that was a make or break move there buddy He crouched down and held his tail perfectly still. He could smell a vole picking at some grass a few fox-lengths ahead. Now that would be a good catch he thought. Careful not to disturb anything, he let his paws slowly carry him toward the creature, its beating heart like a drum in his ears. He lundged a bit too early and his claws took an extra second to end its life. Of course, it had enough time to squeal. Perfect he thought, knowing anything that was about now would be on high alert. He knew he wasn't going to win with just one lousy vole. He wondered if SPottedpelt had caught anything yet. He licked the blood from his claws quickly then looked about, trying to pick up the scent of something else to mess up catching. With his mind so heavy in thought of Spottedpelt, it was a wonder he could even walk strait.

Spottedpelt licked the dirt off her paws after burying her freshly-killed mouse, feeling encouraged after her first catch in her little competition with Wolfjaw. The moon was still high in the air, but sooner or later it would start to sink, and the two competiters would meet to determine who was the winner.
Turning around while making a mental note of her mouse, she bounded off deeper into ShadowClan territory in search of more prey. But she found herself slowing down, and she became lost in the thought of Wolfjaw. His stout, handsome appearance; the mischievious gleam in his eye; the way he spoke to Spottedpelt. Suddenly, Spottedpelt became aware of her surroundings again, and she hissed in confusion and anger for letting herself be caught off gaurd like that. Though as hard as she tried to get Wolfjaw off her mind, he wouldn't leave, and she even let a small lizard escape her claws because of it.
*** Later ***
Spottedpelt parted her jaws and took a deep breath, trying to pinpoint where Wolfjaw was. The moon was already slowly sinking, but the sky was still pitch-black, with Silverpelt shining brightly. She guessed that the competition was already over, since Wolfjaw probably had already noticed the moon sinking also and was trying to find her as she did the same.
Finally scenting a faint trace of the tom, she picked up her prey and bounded toward the direction of his scent. Two mice, and a small black-bird hung from her jaws; a respectable catch when prey was this scarce. As she trotted into a moonlit clearing, Spottedpelt noticed Wolfjaw's scent growing stronger. Dropping her prey on the ground, she thought she caught a glimpse of his golden eyes peering out at her from a few bushes across from the clearing.

Wolfjaw saw her set down several bodies of prey by her paws from within the bushes. He padded out into the clearing and dropped his vole, a mouse and a rather small lizard. "Not bad" he mewed looking at her kill. Your lizard barely even counts he scolded himself. He hadn't even hunted it, He'd been chasing a mouse and accidentally stepped on it. He waited to see what she'd do next. Just as long as his ears stayed safely on his head, he'd be fine. [[ok your move]]

ooc;; *grins*
Spottedpelt perked her ears as she heard a rustling sound come from the bushes before her, and her eyes brightened as Wolfjaw padded into the clearing. She noticed that he had caught the same amount of prey as she did, and she frowned inwardly in disappointment. What happens next?
An idea sprouting in her mind, it reminded her of when Wolfjaw had touched noses with her, and she reailzed that this would be the perfect opportunity to get revenge on him. Trotting forwards, she tipped her chin upwards and held her tail high in the air as she neared Wolfjaw. Her dazzling silver eyes met Wolfjaw's, confidence and lust sparkling in them, and a grin played at her lips.
"I think I remember you saying that if we came to a tie..." she began, padding around Wolfjaw in a tight circle. She gradually came closer and closer to him as she circled him, until her fur was finally brushing against his. "... the two competiters would share the prey back at camp." Spottedpelt pressed against Wolfjaw's chest briefly, and brushed the bottom of his chin with her back as she walked on, before padding a few fox-lengths away from him. She gave him a look that said, "I dare you", before picking up her prey and trotting off toward camp. Now Wolfjaw had no choice but to follow her.

Wolfjaw swallowed hard and he felt his whole body grow hot when she came closer. Then she wound around him and rubbed against his chest. His eyes glittered in pleasure and shock. He was so baffled and amazed that he stood there, mouth slightly agape, just drinking in the whole situation. The playful dare in her eyes brought him out of his thoughts. He grinned, I didnt think she'd get me back that quickly He thought. Coyly, he picked up his pray in his mouth to follow her back to camp. When he came up beside her he gave her a soft shove on the side, silently congratulating her for surprising him. That didnt happen often. as they walked along he stuck his paw out like he was going to trip her, but pulled it back at the last moment purring. He was liking spending time with her, she kept him on his toes. As much as he was enjoying walking next to her, he enjoyed the thrill of playing with her more. SO naturally he had another go. "Race you back to camp!" he said in a muffled voice from the prey in is jaws. His eyes sparkled again, somehow she made him feel like he didnt have a care or responsibility in the world. Almost like he was a kit again, he felt alive and free.
