Hornetpaw I'M A LADY AND LADIES SHOULDN'T BE MESSED WITH "I guess so," Hornetpaw agreed, but with her eyebrows raised quizzically you could tell she was skeptical. But then she actually considered the fact that he might be right, and started thinking about it. She frowned and looked at Stormpaw, amber eyes shining. "What if cats could learn to talk to other animals?"
The black cat shook her head, then grinned and looked back at her friend. She did a fake scoff, then stared at him. "Maybe? I think you mean 'you are right'." She let out a giggle, then glanced around them. Even though the tree was small, they were high up enough to see fairly far away. Out on the horizon, the she-cat could see the sun rising. It was almost sun-high, and there were clouds scuttling around the sun, like they were trying to avoid it. Sighing contentedly, she laid her head on Stormpaw's shoulder.

Stormpaw finally rolled his eyes and mrrowed in laughter. "When hedge-hogs fly," he snorted skeptically. Though Hornetpaw did have a point. Maybe there were some animals who spoke other languages. He laughed quietly. Maybe badgers even had their own, funny language as well.
He followed Hornetpaw's gaze up to the sky as the sun climbed higher. He admired how beautiful the colors were, the blazing orange and red coming from the sun, the light blues and greens coming from the morning sky. While he was staring at the colorful sky, he felt Hornetpaw's head rest on his shoulder, and he glanced down at her warmly. A low purr rumbled from his throat, and he licked her ear affectionately. Hornetpaw was the real beauty here, he told himself as his gaze softened.

Hornetpaw I'M A LADY AND LADIES SHOULDN'T BE MESSED WITH "Hedgehogs?" Hornetpaw snorted incredulously, not knowing what to think. She giggled at the phrase, though. Hedgehogs? Why on earth would hedgehogs fly? Shaking the thoughts aside, she grinned at Stormpaw happily. She just wanted to focus on being there with him.
Looking out at the pretty display of colors in the morning sky, she decided to pick out the most beautiful one. Staring out at the sky, she almost picked a seafoam green. Then she looked up at Stormpaw's blue eyes, purring happily at him. Glancing back out at the sky, the she-cat suddenly didn't want to pick the greenish color. Looking around the horizon, she found a deep blue and pointed it out with her tail.
"That's my favorite color. It looks just like your eyes," she mewed, a happy tone in her voice. The black cat placed her tail over his, and smiled at him, honey-colored eyes shining.

Stormpaw met Hornetpaw's eyes when she looked up at him, and for a moment, she had a curious look in her honey-colored eyes. But the moment ended as quickly as it had started, and she turned to look back at the sky. He followed her gaze and smiled, still dumbfounded by the beautiful colors. When Hornetpaw pointed at some part of the sky, he leaned over so his head was beside hers, and he noticed that she was staring at a deep blue, like what the river's water looked like at its deepest.
His eyes shone grimly for a brief moment. He had remembered a battle with ThunderClan, when they still had Sunningrocks. It was the battle that got his nick in his left ear. He was fighting another apprentice, he thought he remembered his name by seeing him at gatherings. Nettlepaw, he guessed faintly. He had Nettlepaw pinned down, but the ThunderClan apprentice kicked powerfully with his hind legs and had sent Stormpaw flying straight into the river. Since the water level wasn't that high during the time, he had plunged to the bottom, his eyes wide with panick. He had caught a glimpse of the blue coloring.
Stormpaw was dragged out of the memory by Hornetpaw's voice. He felt her tail rest on his, and he curled them together. "Don't make me blush!" he grinned in amusement, indeed, blushing faintly. He thought for a moment, trying to think of something clever to say. "Well, if you were a color, you would be my favorite one," he purred, nuzzled Hornetpaw's cheek sweetly. He didn't really have a favorite color anyways, so it was the least he could say.

Hornetpaw I'M A LADY AND LADIES SHOULDN'T BE MESSED WITH Hornetpaw watched the distant expression in her friend's eyes with concern. Edging closer to Stormpaw, she pressed up against him with her bushy, long fur. As he seemed to snap back to reality, he twined their tails together. Smiling, she felt her cheeks redden slightly. "Why? I lke it when you blush. It's cute," she blurted out, not thinking. It took a few minutes for her to process what had came out of her own mouth. She blushed, then looked away, so that the tom wouldn't see her blushing.
She listened to Stormpaw, watching his dark blue eyes. Faintly, she could see the smoky gray that encircled them. She thought about what he had said, grinned, and nuzzled him in return. "And how exactly did you know that I think that's the sweetest thing someone's told me?" She asked, turning her head to look at the sky again. Glancing at the horizon, she could still make out the beautiful, watery blue.
After a few minutes of staying there with her friend, her feet got restless. Untwisting her tail from Stormpaw's she stood up. The branch wobbled and dipped in a slight breeze, but she wasn't worried. Jumping nimbly down from the tree, she stared up at Stormpaw. "Do you want to keep walking?" She asked paitently, waiting for him to answer.

Stormpaw snorted, rolling his eyes at Hornetpaw's compliment. It may have looked like he was annoyed by it, but in fact, he appreciated it. "That's easy for you to say! You've got black fur, so I can't see it when you blush!" he argued, looking at Hornetpaw just as she turned her face away. Although he couldn't make it out from her fur, he knew she looked away when she blushed. Everyone did it at some point.
At Hornetpaw's question, he grinned and turned to look at her. "Maybe because I'm the best friend anyone could ever have?" he suggested, a hint of arrogance in his voice. He purposely didn't say 'mate' because he knew that that subject was touchy, and he didn't want to bring it up again.
When Hornetpaw jumped down from the tree, Stormpaw figured that she must've been getting impatient, so he decided that they should just continue on walking. He leapt down after her before answering, and meowed, "Sure."

Hornetpaw I'M A LADY AND LADIES SHOULDN'T BE MESSED WITH "It is easy for me to say. I have black fur and it really is cute when you blush," Hornetpaw swatted at his ear with her paw, eyes twinkling with amusement. "I wish I didn't have black fur. It's dull and tangled... and just yuck," The she-cat meowed absentmindedly, frowning.
At Stormpaw's hint or arrogance in his words, she rolled her eyes and grinned. "You're not just my best friend, you're my.." Hornetpaw stopped short, not knowing what she was going to say. Flicking her tail angrily, she closed her honey-colored eyes and tried to figure out what she meant. After a few minutes of silence, she finally spoke again. ".... My crush?" The apprentice said finally, testing out the word. She shook her head, unsatisfied. "Never mind. You know what I mean."
"Soo...." The black cat meowed, slowing down so that Stormpaw would catch up to her as she walked. "What do you want to talk about?" She questioned, not knowing what else to say.

Stormpaw grinned as Hornetpaw swatted at his ear with her paw. His epression changed into that of a puzzled one when she began to ramble on about her fur, along with a somewhat absent-minded look in her honey-colored eyes. He rolled his eyes and pressed his nose into her neck for a brief moment. "No it's not, at least, I think it's pretty," he argued, a hint of amusement sparkling in his blue eyes.
He tilted his head to the side when Hornetpaw cut her sentence off, and he shifted uncomfortably. It wasn't like he didn't appeal to the idea of being mates, it was just that, he thought that if he said it out loud it would make things akwward again, and he didn't want that. When she finished, he knew what she was trying to say and chuckled softly. It was somewhat amusing to watch Hornetpaw when she was struggling to figure something out.
"Well... I don't know. Let's talk about... birds," he smiled, glancing at Hornetpaw after he caught up with her. Stormpaw though for a long time. Birds always seemed to mystify Hornetpaw. "WHy do you think they have wings, and we don't?" he asked her, trying to figure out an answer for himself as well. Though as hard as he tried, he couldn't. He had no clue as to why, and figured he should've asked a simpler question. But he knew that any other question would've satisfy Hornetpaw.
Notes: I kinda keep thinking that Hornetpaw all of a sudden loves birds now. xD

Hornetpaw I'M A LADY AND LADIES SHOULDN'T BE MESSED WITH "I'm just being self-conscious," Hornetpaw meowed, smoothing down her fur. Some had stuck up when she was talking about it. The black clad cat purred slightly when Stormpaw stuck his nose in her fur, then continued. "Thanks for the compliment though, I like knowing you think I'm pretty," The apprentice meowed, winking at him with amusement in her eyes.
The she-cat rolled her eyes, annoyed, when the tom began chuckling. "Don't laugh! I'm serious!" She mewed, nudging his shoulder. "What's so funny about it, anyways?" The black cat mumbled, glaring at Stormpaw's blue eyes. She gave him an annoyed look that swam in her amber eyes; she really didn't get what was funny about her not being able to find a word to describe him. Mind wandering, she started talking about the statement again. "Ya' know, Best friend might be a good term, since you think it's so funny," She teased, and when she got no reply, she added, "You know I was kidding. kind of."
"Birds? Why birds?" Hornetpaw snorted, giggling quietly. She thought of the winged creatures, and their colorful feathers. "Umm... I don't know. Maybe because we don't fly?" The she-cat thought about the question seriously for a moment, then grinned, thinking she must look silly. Though the question did make her wonder, and she knew she would probably never know the answer.

Stormpaw raised a brow questioningly when Hornetpaw nudged his shoulder, and when she turned to look at him, his smile faltered when he noticed the agitated look in her honey-colored eyes. It wasn't that he thought the term was funny, he only thought that Hornetpaw looked amusing when she was thinking seriously. He hadn't meant to annoy her. "Sorry," he mumbled, an apoligetic smile spreading across his face when he looked at her.
Stormpaw scoffed when Hornetpaw became supposably surprised that he had changed the subject to birds. "You tell me! You always seem to talk about birds, like you did earlier today," he pointed out. Glancing about, he snorted at her logical answer. Then again, he didn't even know if there even was a logical answer. "Well... what about dogs, or squirrels, or... or even fish; why don't they fly?" he countered, perking both ears and training his gaze ahead of them as if the answer lie there.
Notes: Sorry for suckish post. Especially after you waited so long for it..

Hornetpaw I'M A LADY AND LADIES SHOULDN'T BE MESSED WITH Hornetpaw watched his smile dissappear when she started getting annoyed. Feeling guilty about it, she stopped immediately. The black cat looked at him, then at her paws. She frowned, and glanced back up at him. "Sorry if I made you upset... I was over-reacting." She smiled at him apoligetically, then answered his comment. "It's okay."
The she-cat smiled at Stormpaw again, looking into his blue eyes. "Good point. But I really don't know why you want to talk about birds," she teased, flicking his ear with her tail. The apprentice snorted at the tom's new answer. "Do you think I know everything? I have no idea. I just know they don't fly," Hornetpaw paused, thinking about it for a moment. "What about you? Do you know why?"
Looking around, the black cat saw a butterfly flit across their path. Absentmindedly, she chased after it a couple of fox-lengths, and reached a paw up to try to swat at it. After a moment she realized she must've looked childish and trotted back to Stormpaw, blushing.

Stormpaw snorted, flicking Hornetpaw's flank with his bushy tail. "I dunno. You seem to like birds alot, so I just thought, you know," A wacky grin spread across his lips and he tilted his head to the side in a goofy look.
At her counter-question, he didn't say anything, since he really didn't have an answer - and he didn't want to admit it either. But luck was on his side today, and he watched in silent relief and amusement as Hornetpaw dashed off to a little butterfly ahead of them. His jaw dropped in fake shock when she ditched the butterfly, and he continued to stare at her, wide-eyed, when she returned to him. "Are you mad?" he gasped, a gleam of disapproval flashing through his eyes for a heartbeat.
But he knew he couldn't conceal his laughter for long. "You're letting it get away!" he grinned, his ears flattening against his head in a challenging expression. Stormpaw turned and pranced off in the butterfly's direction, his eyes shining with delight. As he neared the fluttering creature, he leaped and swiped his paw at it, watching as it tried to fly away. "Come on!" he cried over his shoulder at Hornetpaw, tail bobbing as he skipped off again.
