A jet black Bombay tom walked out into the training area. His first Apprentice to train. He should of been behind me. If he is late them i'll really give him apprentice work He thought. He sat down looking at the open space. He soon got up and started pacing, He wasn't the type that could sit around all day and wait for a apprentice to get up and take their time. Stormpaw is going to be in trouble he said. |

A loud crashing sound came from a few ferns behind Darkblaze and a flash of brown short out from them. Stormpaw stumbled into the training hollow and stood in front of his mentor, his flanks heaving as he tried to catch his breath. He had completely forgotton that Darkblaze arranged a training session the day before, and had slept through.
"Sorry, *gasp* Darkblaze, it won't *gasp* happen again," he meowed, finally relaxing after a few moments of deep breathing. His ears were pinned against his head in embarrassment. How could he have forgotton about his own training? Stormpaw silently cursed himself in his mind, and he looked up from his paws at Darkblaze to see how angry he was with him.

Darkblaze looked at the apprentice. How could you forget about the training, it's not that hard to forget about if you want to become a warrior, unless all you want to stay a apprentice forever! he growled.
He really was mad at Stormpaw and right now, he was thinking that he should be cleaning the elders den for a moon. Was that a good punishment? He had to really think about it.  Stormpaw flinched at Darkblaze's growl and he took a step backwards. He didn't like his mentor. Darkblaze was too rough, too rude, and too ambitious. Stormpaw narrowed his eyes in anger. "Yes, Darkblaze," he meowed quietly, a hint of a growl in his voice. So what if he was late? Other apprentices were late to training all the time, but they didn't have to clean out the elders' den for a whole moon!
Stormpaw lashed his tail back and forth, trying to calm himself down. It wasn't like him to get angry all of a sudden, but Darkblaze could be so frustrating sometimes that he couldn't help himself. Taking a deep breath, he relaxed and let the fur along his spine flatten. "What are we doing today?" he asked, changing the subject. Stormpaw just wanted to get his training over with. With a sudden surge of joy, Stormaw decided that he would talk to Hornetpaw when he returned to camp, and confide in her. Feeling better now that he had a plan, Stormpaw waited impatiently for an answer from his mentor.

After Stormpaw changed the subject, Darkblaze decided to just drop the other subject. He sighed and walked towards him. Now when you want to attack a opponent, you aim for the back, throat or legs. It's easier. he said.
Then all of a sudden he ran grabbing stormpaw's leg with his teeth, slid his back foot towards his and flipped him over. Just like that he said. Words: 70 Song(s): My Axe By ICP Notes: Training Stormpaw |

Stormpaw braced himself for Darkblaze's attack and grunted as he suddenly hit the ground with a thud. Regaining his focus, he recovoered his paws and did nothing for a moment. The memory of Darkblaze tripped him was fresh in his mind, and he decided that he was going to attempt to re-try it on him.
With a flash, Stormpaw shot forwards. He quickly wrapped his paw around Darkblaze's front leg and pulled it toward himself, causing Darklbaze to fall to the ground. Stormpaw stared down at him with a look of satisfaction on his face. "Just like that?" he taunted, snorting in amusement.

The warrior didn't know what hit it. He thought that stormpaw wasn't a fast learner but he was wrong. He scrambled to his paws and then shook his head. "Very good now show me some defending moves."
He said. His head was still spinning, It felt like he was in la la land. Darkblaze thought he was going to fall down from the dizziness but didn't. He just stared at Stormpaw. Maybe we could move his warrior announcement sooner. He thought to himself.

Stormpaw brightened at Darkblaze's praise and his anger gradually subsided. Though he was expecting him to tell him to attack him again, btu instead his mentor decided to review his defending moves. When nothing happened, Stormpaw raised a brow in a questioning expression. "Uh, I think you're supposed to come at me," he reminded Darkblaze, holding in his laughter. Darkblaze looked quite amusing just then, looking a bit wobbly on his feet and simply staring at Stormpaw as if he had wings.
While Darkblaze was giving him extra time, Stormpaw studied him carefully. He recalled what he had said about aiming his blows at the neck, back, or legs. In this case, Stormpaw was up against a stronger, larger and more experienced cat. He figured that since he had a broad neck, aiming for that spot wouldn't be very effective. Darkblaze's back was arched, so it would be difficult to leap onto it. Stormpaw let his gaze drop to Darkblaze's legs, and he decided to aim for them, since every other option was a less smarter choice.

Darkblaze looked down and then looked at stormpaw. The apprentice was small but a good size. I wonder what he is going to do? he thought. He backed up to a tree and then ran full blast toward stormpaw, Letting the wind blow his fur, it felt good. He smiled as he saw Stormpaw getting ready to do something.

Stormpaw tensed his muscles as Darkblaze suddenly shot towards him at an alarming speed. At the last moment, he quickly darted to the side and shot out his outstretched paw. Swiftly, his paw caught on Darkblaze's front leg, causing the larger tom to trip.
Stormpaw took a step back, careful not to get in the way of Darkblaze as he fell to the ground. Crouching, he waited for his mentor to stop moving before he pounced on him, pressing his sheathed paws on his throat. Breathing heavily, he grinned in satisfaction. "I aimed for your legs like you told me, since it would've been harder if I went for your neck or your back," he meowed, going through what his mentor had told him at the beggining of their session in his head.
After a few moments though, he realized that he had made a mistake. "Wait... actually, I could've clung to your back, since I'm smaller than you, so it would've been harder to shake me off," he quickly corrected himself, inwardly disappointed that he hadn't thought of that earlier. Stormpaw didn't really think that triping someone was fair, but then again, fighting was never fair, he reflected.

The male went down fast as his face hit the ground hard. Stormpaw is very clever and does remember. he thought. He opened his eyes to see that his apprentice was on him and explaining what he did."I'm very happy that you listened to me, usually no one does." He said and then listed to what else his apprentice said.
Ah so now he realizes that he could of jumped on my back Darkblaze thought. You are indeed very smart, I would say smarter than any other apprentice i saw. I will Ask Foxstar to do a ceremony earlier than anyone else. He said. After Stormpaw got off of him he smiled. Now would you want to hunting now or tomarrow? he asked.

Stormpaw felt encouraged by Darkblaze's praise, and grinned in satisfaction. His delight grew even more when his mentor told him he was smart, and when he finished his sentence, his jaw dropped. "Really? You mean it?!" he squeaked, eyes wide with excitement.
Stormpaw was so happy that he could've ran to camp and back to the training hollow three times in a row. His mind reeled with happy thoughts. He couldn't wait to tell Hornetpaw! Then after Hornetpaw became a warrior, they could officially be mates. Stormpaw purred at the thought, his sharp blue eyes filled with wonder as he thought about how much easier life would be after their warrior ceremony.
