The stuttering disorder that had been going on between the pair of apprentices seemed to take hold of Nettlepaw, and Applepaw was afraid to respond. Would she sound like that if she spoke again? Probably, it was a little awkward being around someone other than her brother and actually having a good time. She had forgotten all of her fears and concerns, and by now was being the carefree happy she-cat that she had been moons ago. It was nice to see this side of her again, and her brother would be proud.
Applepaw knew she had messed up when she had not spoken, and left him hanging. He seemed to have gotten the wrong impression. She hadn't mind having the warmth of his tail on her fur, she just had not expected it at all so fast so soon. Nor did she expect that she would have liked it. The red furred apprentice blinked in confusion when his tail was removed. "No-no. You're fine, I actually liked it. I just didn't expect it."
she mewed softly. "Your tail is warm, and why did you move it? I was just about to say thank you for that." she added. Never had the apprentice been more fearful and nervous as she was now, but it was a good nervous, and a good fearful. [/blockquote][/blockquote]

Nettlepaw was still schocked when Applepaw spoke once more, and the fur on his shoulders flattened slowly. "I.. I don't know.." he murmured, his voice close to a whisper. He hadn't expected it either, that he would just suddenly brush his tail against Applepaw's. He knew he liked her, but to do something that he wasn't comfortable with yet made him feel nervous and shameful.
Though Nettlepaw was thinking of what Applepaw said before, which was that she liked it. Why? Any cat can do that with her.. it's not that special. "N-no, I am sorry.. I made you feel uncomfortable.." he muttered stubbornly, still not being able to believe that Applepaw was fine with it.

Applepaw was glad to see the tom was relaxing a little more. Once the fur started to flatten, she sighed in relief. Finally! Opening up to someone was hard work, and here she had done so, but had been quickly shot down it seemed. She glared at the tom with her emerald gaze. Was he not understanding what she was saying? That she liked having his tail on her fur? This was somewhat aggrevating. Here she was opening herself up and what did she get in return? Disbelief/a tom with bees for brains? She would just have to prove it. "For the last time, you did not make me feel uncomfortable, and you did not make me regret anything."
she mewed. An idea struck the apprentice as she made her way closer to Nettlepaw. She pressed herself against him, with a purr. "If I was uncomfortable with you would I do that? Or...this?" she questioned, her tail finding his own and attempting to intertwine them.[/blockquote][/blockquote]

Nettlepaw said nothing when Applepaw tried to explain to him, and for a moment he didn't realize what she was doing until she spoke again. He felt her soft fur brush against his, and her sweet scent as he barely parted his jaws to breathe it in. He grew furiously hot under his pelt and he blushed deeply, laying his ears back in shock and something like a nervous-happiness. When Applepaw was twining her tail with his, Nettlepaw couldn't help but twine his a little in return.
"I.. er.. I g-guess not..." he stammered quietly. Finally, he looked up at Applepaw, and found himself staring into her emerald eyes, trying to see if his own emotions were reflected in them. Concealing his feelings wasn't always somehting Nettlepaw was good at.

It felt so good to have someone like Nettlepaw to just bury into and wash everything away. This was a clean slate, and she was going to do the best she could to not let it turn out like last time. Applepaw just stayed right where she was, enjoying the moment. Maybe toms weren't so awful, and she could trust again. Or maybe she needed to stick to what she had known her entire life. She watched him for the longest time, and when he looked at her she was lost in his own eyes for a moment.
The rationing side of her brain suddenly took hold and she realized what she was doing. Backing up rather quickly she shook her head. "Sorry, I-I d-don't know what came over me."
Applepaw stuttered out. Her tail was tucked underneath her, and she was doing her best to keep herself from blushing and making sure her tail behaved. It was a good thing she was already a red furred she-cat, it hid her blush well. Looking around she soon realized she needed to come up with something or else she would easily make her way to liking this tom. She didn't need that to happen. Applepaw would not allow herself to get hurt again. "We-uh-uh...need to uh find uh our uh mentors." she stumbled over her words and shook her head. "That is if you still want to go hunting." she added. [/blockquote][/blockquote]

Nettlepaw was enjoying his moment with Applepaw almost as much as when he had became aprenticed. Though when she jerked away from him, he felt a pang of sadness fill his body as his fur grew cold where she had been. The happiness in his eyes faded into anxiety and embarrassment, but he didn't tear his gaze away from Applepaw's. "It's alright.. I didn't mind." he meowed quietly, a sweet smile forming as he spoke.
Wait. Mentors? Why did they need their mentors? Nettlepaw was confused for a heartbeat until Applepaw explained and he shook his head at his own mistake before replying, "Er, yeah! Of course I still want to go hunting with you." Nettlepaw then realized that he had only referred to hunting with just Applepaw, and not their mentors.

Of course he wouldn't mind. He was a tom! Toms had bees for brains and thought of no one but themselves. Then again, this was Nettlepaw talking and he had been nothing but kind to her. But Spiderkit had started out like that...they had been together for everything. Her friend had never left her side and they had no secrets. Applepaw couldn't get this memory out of her head. She was playing with her friend, and suddenly her deepest secret had been revealed. Not only that, but trust had been broken completely. Not even her brother had her trust for quite some time.
Applepaw rolled her eyes. "And our mentors. We can't go without our mentors."
she added. She needed the safety net of her mentor along with her. Not just because she was still so young and inexperienced, but because she needed the cat she was starting to trust. "Should we go find them?" she asked.[/blockquote][/blockquote]

Nettlepaw inwardly frowned. Of course Applepaw would noticed his mouse-brained mistake, he thought miserably. He needed to stop acting as if they were friends, and start acting like a normal cat. "Right.. s-sorry.." he muttered, still upset with himself that he forgot that apprentices couldn't leave camp without a warrior.
"Sure, I'll go find Runningleap.." he murmured quietly, turning around and bounding off toward the warriors' den, where he had last seen his mentor. OH, stop being such a drama-queen, it was just a silly mistake, he kept telling himself in his mind. Nettlepaw sighed before poking his head into the warriors' den, almost immediately finding the gray body of Runningleap in his nest.

Seeing his face, Applepaw knew she had made a mistake in saying something. But what did she say wrong? He was back to stuttering and she didn't understand. Maybe he had wanted to go alone or something? Surely he knew that wasn't possible. Maybe they could one day, if he proved to be a trustworthy cat. She watched him go find his mentor and she stopped and saw her brother glaring at her. Oh great, he was going to tell her she had made a mistake. She would just deal with him later.
Looking around camp, and not spotting her mentor she decided to look in the warriors den. She practically ran into Nettlepaw, once again distracted by the many happenings of camp and not paying attention to what was going on around her. "Sorry."
she mewed quietly. "You don't happen to see my mentor in there do you? I don't like going in there, it gives me a weird feeling and the warriors stare." Applepaw added. [/blockquote][/blockquote]

Nettlepaw squeaked in surprise when Applepaw bumped into him, and blushed a bit as their fur brushed for a heartbeat. Quickly shuffling away, he said nothing but instead pointed his tail at Runningleap, who seemed to already be awake since he lifted his head drowsily and glared at Nettlepaw. "Tell Auburnstripe I've already been on dawn patrol," he mumbled, resting his chin on his paws again.
Nettlepaw rolled his eyes and trotted up to his mentor causually, prodding him in the side with his paw. "Come on, wake up already." he meowed, a grin spreading across his face as Runningleap finally resigned and rose to his paws with a goofy smile on his face. Only then did Nettlepaw remember about Applepaw's question and turned toward her, shaking his head sadly. Ravenleap wasn't in the warriors' den, Nettlepaw noticed, and he was probably speaking with Hawkstar. Runningleap slowly padded out of the den, blinking at the bright sunlight that greeted him. "So what is it that you want?" he asked Nettlepaw, flicking his tail in curiosity. Nettlepaw had an excited gleam in his eye when he replied, "Can you take me and Applepaw hunting?"

Applepaw peered inside for a slight moment to see what Nettlepaw was showing her. Seeing his mentor she almost grinned at his response to Nettlepaw. Runningleap looked so tired, like he had been on his paws for moons. The red tabby she-cat was barely containing her laughter. Nettlepaw's mentor looked so funny.
She watched her friend (maybe he was a friend a this point, she was still undecided), try to get his mentor to respond. When he finally answered her question she sighed. This could be potentially scary. Applepaw knew she would be in good paws with both toms, but still she wasn't entirely familiar with either of them. She was just not going to be comfortable with this. When Runningleaf posed the question what they wanted and Nettlepaw responded, Applepaw mewed softly. "Please come with us? We really want to go."
she added.[/blockquote][/blockquote]

Runningleap exchanged glances from Applepaw to Nettlepaw for a few moments, noticing something different about them. They looked a bit flushed, but on the other hand eager and excited to leave. "Alrighty! A bit of more prey wouldn't hurt," he winked at the apprentices, a grin spread across his face. He loved apprentices, and how energetic they were.
Nettlepaw held in a squeak of joy when Runningleap said yes, and cast Applepaw a quick side-glance. He felt comfortable hunting with her, but also uncofrtable. They had only become friends that very day - if they have socialized enough to even be called friends - and Nettlepaw still wondered wether Applepaw was just forcing kindness, or if she really meant it.

Applepaw felt Runningleap's gaze on her and she became a little bit shy. She didn't know what to do with so much attention and somewhat just wanted to hide. When he finally agreed, Applepaw seemed to cheer up and she looked at Nettlepaw. "We get to go hunting! Thank you so much, Runningleap!"
she mewed, trying her best to sound excited. Truth was, the red tabby she-cat was very nervous. "All I know is how to stay quiet. I may not be too helpful." she added, a bit sad that she was still so inexperienced. She felt behind, even though she had just began training.[/blockquote][/blockquote]

Nettlepaw shared Applepaw's excitement, but then he frowned when she explained that she wouldn't be very helpful. Giving her shoulder a gentle, fond nudge, he smiled at her. He didn't need to say anything for Applepaw to know he was trying to encourage her; his eyes said it all. They were shining with excitement, and also with a friendly glow.
Runninglea watched as the two apprentices squealed in excitement, and he chuckled softly. "Alright, alright, both of you will be helpful, and I'm sure you two will do fine," he meowed, giving Applepaw an encouraging smile as he rose to his paws. "Ready?"

Applepaw looked at Nettlepaw and saw that he was actually encouraging her. She wasn't used to this. Toms were nice? She shuddered a little but put on a brave face. She could do this. She knew she could. The nudge he gave her was very sweet and she couldn't help but smile at that. He was making her feel better. No! Should couldn't be succumbed into the world of believing toms were good. They were all evil and out to get her. Shaking her head she tried to ignore the turmoil going on in her head.
And now Runningleap was being a nice tom also? What was with today? Was it a day of opposites? Must be, toms usually were just annoying and foolish to her. Or maybe something was wrong with her. Was she getting sick? She rolled her eyes at her mousebrained thoughts and looked to Runningleap. She needed to get excited. She was going out of camp with Nettlepaw, and she was being brave! "We've been ready forever. Right Nettlepaw? We were just waiting on you to get up. I think you sleep more than a badger does."
she teased, trying her best to be in a good move and not quiver with nervousness. [/blockquote][/blockquote]
