Take a breath Take it deep Calm yourself, He says to me Muse A loud banging noise awoke Muse with a start. Scenting the air, she smelled a strong scent of two-legs. Looking around worriedly, she spat as parts of the two-leg nest fell into her face. Her fur fluffed out in alarm, she squeezed out of her den and darted away down the alley, to hide under a large two-leg thing, that two-legs called "dumpsters". Another two-leg stumbled towards the dumpster, and Muse pelted out from under it and zipped around the building her paws thrumming on the ground. She turned on a dime into a narrow alleyway and skidded to a stop, panting heavily. Looking around she saw a strang tom-cat, eyeing him warily she slipped into the shadows to watch him. She scented the air, and realized with a sense of alarm that she didn't recognize this cat, and she generally knew the scents of most the cats commonly around here. Feeling oddly intriuged about him, she sat down, settling herself to watch him for a while.

Fang curled his lip in hostility as a few twolegs crossed his path as he rounded a corner and entered a light alley. The sun was just reaching the top of the sky, so he knew that he still had a fair amount of time to find a new shelter, before he began to suspect things when the sky darkened. As the twolegs dumped strange objects into the larger two-leg thing, he pinned his ears against his head as the loud, high-pitched metallic noise rang in them.
When the twoleg turned to reach for more objects, he though he saw the shape of a cat slip past, but the twoleg had returned and blocked Fang's vision. He quickly took a few steps to the left in hopes of catching another glimpse of what seemed to be another cat, but they were gone, or whatevever it was that had startled him. He felt frustration make his claws unsheathe and press against the hard ground. Stop acting so paranoid. He shook the rising suspicions away and started again, heading toward the end of the alley.
Suddenly, an unfamiliar scent drifted into his nostrils, and the fur along his spine rose in alarm, when he realized that it was cat-scent. It wasn't that familiar to him since he wasn't around other cats, where instead, he decided to travel alone, with no one to pester him. Fang wondered what he should do. Confront them, or leave them be? He glanced up at the sky again. I still have plently of time to travel, but it would be best to not let anything interfere. he decided, forcing his fur to lie flat as he began to walk again, this time, keeping his ears pricked for the slightest sound.

If you play You play for keeps Take the gun, and count to three.
Muse Muse stared carefully at the tom and crept after him. Her tail twitching back and forth. Her fur slightly brushed the two-leg nest. He looks.. different. I wonder who he is. Should I say Hi? or do I leave him alone. He keeps looking over his shoulder as if he's watching for something.
As she watched him, she because less focused on her crouch. Her paw stepped on a two-leg thing causing a loud snap to echo around the clearing. Startled she lept backwards, hissing"Mouse-brain!"
She froze looking up to see if he had heard her.

Crack! Fang jumped in alarm, and he whisked around, pulling his lips back in a threatening snarl. Someone had been following him! Suddenly, the blood in his veins turned to ice, and his paws were frozen to the ground. Was it Jake? He was more hostile than he was frightened, but he couldn't help but try to puff out his short fur.
Growling, Fang advanced, sending up clouds of dust as his pace quickened. The shape of the cat became more clear, and he narrowed his eyes aggresively. With a flash, the black and white tom bowled into his follower and pinned them to the ground, holding his paws on their throat as he revealed his long, sharp fangs in a snarl. "Trying to sneak up on me, huh, Jake?" he spat, leaning his face closer to the cat so he could get a better look at them through the darkness of the shadow they were in.
All hostility vanished from his narrowed, yellow eyes in a heartbeat with sudden realization. Eyes widened in surprise, he forced his fur to lie flat along his spine. If it's not Jake... then who is it?" he wondered for a fleeting moment. "Why were you following me?" Fang inquired, his ton not aggresive anymore but he was on the verge of growling.
He didn't mean to look so hostile, but he was just slightly annoyed that someone had been following him for who knows long. The cat underneath him was a small dark gray tabby with light, almost ghost-like green eyes. Fang was suddenly curious why she was following him in the first place.

I'm sweating now, Moving slow No time to think It's my turn to go Muse With an oomph, Muse landed under the tom; as he lept on top her her pinning her down. She squirmed even though she knew it was useless. 'Trying to sneak up on me, huh, Jake?' He had snarled. Muse was bewhildered, who or what was a Jake?! It certainly wasn't her.
She looked up into the tom's eyes, knowing that her own were widened in fear. 'Why were you following me?!' he had demanded.
"Uhhh..Uhhh... I'm sor-rry." Muse stuttered, her heart racing. She kept her claws sheathed, and prayed that her attacker wouldn't hurt her. She blinked up at him and muttered, "I... you looked... like you were new. I know most the cats around here.... the two-legs chased me out of my den, and I was... I don't know...Why I was following you.."
She squinted her eyes, trying to see her attacker more clearly. In the dim light she could tell that he was black and white, she blinked and stared earnestly into his yellow eyes.

Fang said nothing, and instead considered what the stranger had said. She truly did sound innocent, and it didn't look like she was following him for any specific purpose. There's no point in questioning her like this, he decided finally, before gently climbing off her. He pricked his ears when she mentioned being kicked out of her den.
"So you have nowhere to go?" he asked, his eyes showing nothing as he tried to scan her face for any emotions. Again, he confirmed that she was harmless. But then why was he even talking to her instead of walking away? He dismissed the thought instantly. The more important question was why she was even following him, especially if she didn't have a reason. Was she lying? Probably not, he figured. Fang gave his chest a few confident licks to calm himself down.

You can see my heart beating You can see it through my chest Said I'm terrified, But I'm not leaving I know that I must pass this test.
Muse The she-cat sat up as the tom stepped off of her, her pelt ruffled. Looking at him she tried to smooth her pelt, she watched his pelt smooth against his body and oddly began noticing him; truly noticing him.
'So you have no where to go?' he had asked.
She sighed and looked down, when she looked back up on him, her fear and pain reflected in her pale green eyes. "..No.. I have no home anymore. " She shuffled her paws nervously and embarrassedly. She watched him lick his chest, and slowly licked her own paw drawing it over her ears. She probably looked like a rat.

When the she-cat looked up at him again, he almost felt a stab of sympathy for her. Almost. She has no home? Her words echoed in his mind. Then, a faint surge of anger passed through his body. So what if she had no home? Tough luck. Instead of following other strangers to who knows where, she should've been at least trying to find other shelter. Fang had lost everything he'd cared about, yet he still moved on, finding countless places to live for the time being and providing for himself.
Though the sudden frustration vanished, and he let out an inaudible sigh. He knew he shouldn't have been getting so worked up over this stranger, even who's name he had no knowledge on. How do I know she hasn't been through what I have? Taking another good look at the small, tabby she-cat, he realized that he couldn't find out anything personal about her life just by staring at her.
"Well," he paused, frowning inwardly for a moment, "good luck." With a flick of his tail, Fang turned and began to pad toward the end of the alley, squinting his eyes as bright sunlight met them once he emerged from the shadows. Though for some reason, he couldn't forget the loko of sadness in the stranger's eyes, and the quiet voice she spoke in. He quickly shook his pelt, as if clearing his mind. There was no reason for him to be showing mercy to this stranger, like Jake had when he wrongly accused him of killing his so-called "mother".

So just pull the trigger.... Muse Muse watched the tom, and suck in a sharp breath as he wished her luck. She blinked as he walked away, sighing as she stood and turned to watch him go. She felt a pull of strong hurt, as he began to walk away. "Good-Bye," she mummered softly.
She turned and walked towards the other end of the alley, her tail dragging the ground in defeat. She kept glancing over her shoulder, praying that he would call her back. He's better off without me, she thought bitterly. I would just hold him up. Sheesh girl, why do you care?! You barely know him. You don't even know his name!! she thought bitterly.
With one last look over her shoulder, she called quietly, "What's your name?"NOTES Muse: bleh Words: 127 Thoughts: UGH. computer frustrations.

As Fang reached the end of the alley, he had almost pushed the vision of the stranger's hollow, yet hopeful face. But when he suddenly heard her soft voice call for him in the opposite direction, he hesitated before answering. It wasn't every day that he met someone so quiet and shy as this she-cat, or even another cat in general. Seeing someone of his own kind actually lightened his dark spirits by a sliver.
Sucking in a breath of half-hearted confidence, he turned around. Her dark-colored pelt stood out clearly against the light sky, though her soft-green eyes shone quite brightly even though it was the middle of the day. "Fang," he called out in return, curious of why she had asked. After all, they had no reason to ever speak to each other ever again. "And yours?" She's just another diversion! You have to keep on task, and continue toward your destination! a voice urged in his head.
But he shook it away. He suddenly didn't like how cold he was acting. "Er, if you have no where to stay..." he gulped, not sure if he was doing the right thing, "you can come with me, if you want. I'm heading for a place to rest at." Fang wasn't sure why, but he felt obligated to help this she-cat, even if he didn't know her. He always felt like this when he watched someone in distress, but he knew that he shouldn't be too generous since he might end up in a situation much like when Jake's mother died before him.

Say a prayer to yourself He says close your eyes Sometimes it helps And then I get a scary thought That he's here mean's he's never lost. Muse Muse looked at him, her eyes brightening. Fang, she thought, His name is Fang. She answered quietly, "Muse. My name is Muse" She blinked slowly, starting to turn away.
Then she heard his invitation.
She turned towards him, looking at him earnestly. Dipping her head she bounded towards him. "Are you sure?" She asked him quietly but couldn't keep the enthusiasm out of her voice. She had no where to go, but she didn't want to slow Fang down. She looked at his sturdy frame and thought of her small body, finding herself embarrassed by the comparison. How in the world did she even begin to think that he would want her.

Muse... he thought. As she bounded toward him, he couldn't help but feel a twinge of satisfaction as he noticed the enthusiasm in her voice as she spoke to him. He told himself that he had to stop thinking for once, and simply come out with an answer, which was probably bad idea from the start.
"It's fine, really," he told her, his face expressionless as he gazed down at her. He was taller than her by a cat's head, but you could say his skinny appearance was similar to that of Muse's, though his interior was compact and firm.
Fang though about the problems Muse might cause on his journey to find shelter. Don't be so inconsiderate. He sighed and looked down at his paws for a moment, in deep thought. Would she slow him down? Probably not, he guessed. She looked determined to not let him down. Then again, he never knew.
Besides, shelter couldn't be that far off. Surely he would find it soon, and hopefully find a home for Muse as well, since he couldn't just take her to places that he wasn't ever sure was safe. He wanted to make sure that Muse didn't hurt herself. "But are you sure?" he inquired, looking at her once again and searching for any doubt or hesitation on her face.

I stand surrounded by the walls That once's comfined me Knowing I'll be underneathe them when they crumble when they fall.... --M u s e The pretty little tabby looked up at Fang, her eyes shining. 'Are you sure?' he had asked her. Muse stared at him, blinking slowly and said clearly, "Absolutely." She felt absolutely sure about her decision. Muse felt that she would have to leave to ever find her meaning and life and she fixed a determined look on her face. She wouldn't let Fang down, no matter what. She refused to be the element that slowed him down, she would prove to him that she was a good companion for a travel.
A soft purr rumbled in her throat as she twitched her tail back and forth with the excitement of the journey to come.

After a few moments of thought, Fang gave Muse a tiny nod of approval. Closing his eyes for a brief moment, he opened his jaws to suck in a deep, cool breath, releasing it slowly. He glanced down at the gray tabby again and said nothing for a few moments, instead, sizing her up. Would she be able to manage through obstacles like twolegs or monsters, or foxes or dogs? Would she be able to emotionally keep herself together if they saw someone get killed? Wait, no one's going to die. I'm only looking for a place to stay. With a cold shudder of realization, he knew he was afraid that Jake would do something horrid; right in front of Muse.
He rolled his eyes at the purr that escaped from Muse's throat and whisked around, starting for the end of the alley once again. "We travel now. Rest at sundown. Travel again at dawn," he meowed in a brisk voice, twitching his tail-tip in anticipation. Would he find them? Surely not. The name's Jake; don't forget it! The words of his stalker echoed in his head, making him almost trip over some twoleg thing. Swirving away from the object, he figured that Muse was right behind him.
Fang stopped and looked at the horizen again, barely finding the line that divided the sky and land through the trees and twolegs. The sun was slowly beginning to lower in the sky, but its blueness would remain for a long while still. We're making good time already, he thought with thoughtful glance at his own paws, flexing them eagerly.

Muse padded after Fang, listening to him discuss the travel plans. She walked confidently, with her head held high. She looked at familiar places as she passed them, remembering each of the memories. She felt a sharp tug on her heart as she began to leave the place that had been her home since birth.
Shaking her head to clear it of those troubling thoughts, she trotted to catch up with Fang: slowing her pace to walk beside him. "Fang.." she began, looking at him cautiously. "May I ask where we are going?"
She kept her voice polite, trying to edge some friendliness with the black and white tom cat.
