Hawkstar twitched his whiskers in uncertainty, and he hesitated for a moment before answering Amberfrost. "S-sorry, I.. I felt a bit nauscious," That was probably the worst lie he'd ever told before. Of course he wasn't nauscious, but when he lied to Amberfrost he felt even more guilty. The look of mixed anger and hurt in her eyes struck him like an adder's bite, and he quickly lowered his gaze to the ground.
Hawkstar sighed. He didn't want to lie to Amberfrost. "Actually, well... I, er, my head started to hurt, too," he confessed. At least that wasn't completely a lie. True, his head was hurting in the attempt to make sense of his feelings, and thoughts. And when he'd locked eyes with Amberfrost, he'd felt his legs grow weak.

Amberfrost didn't drop her gaze. She was less upset now, but it still bothered her slightly. She could usually tell when others were lying, but she didn't doubt the fact his head hurt. hers did a little bit too. She thought she was so sure on everything all the time... but this was starting to throw off everything she knew, when she thought she knew everything.
Amber eyes were wide as they peered into the tom before her. She took a step backwards. "Okay...okay..." she whispered, barely audible. She wanted to run, but she wanted to stay and make things right. So all she did was stand like a deer in headlights, poised to dart away from any oncoming trouble, her tail curling and uncurling at her back. "I'm sorry too."

Hawkstar looked up to see Amberfrost back away, and now he felt horrible. Was she that upset because of him? Disgusted at himself, the ThunderClan leader sighed and rose to his paws. He padded over to Amberfrost and gently laid his bushy tail-tip on her shoulder in a comforting gesture. "You have no reason to apoligize, Amberfrost. Let's head back to camp now. Do you want to share something when we get back?" he offered, reminding himself bitterly that he and Amberfrost hadn't even caught anything during their entire hunt. But Hawkstar was glad he got to spend time with one of his Clan mates, or whom he could refer to now, as a friend.
Hawkstar desperately wanted to lift the tenseness in the air around them. He didn't mean to make Amberfrost feel hurt, but a part of him told him that she already knew that much. Even so, he wanted to make it up to her. Maybe he could her out to Fourtrees one night, and lay underneath the stars with her. The idea sounded delightful in Hawkstar's mind, and he decided to ask Amberfrost when they returned to camp.

The silver she-cat continued to curl and un-curl her tail once again. She could easily see Hawkstar in the light of the claw- shaped moon, and the light of the lost warriors who've joined StarClan above in Silverpelt. His expression told her that he hadn't meant to hurt her, he was just confused. The handsome tom laid the tip of his fluffed- up tail on her shoulder, and Amberfrost was tempted to shake it off. Not because she didn't appreciate the thought, but because she just didn't want to be comforted right now. She needed to think, and she knew just how to.
"That would be fine, but we need to contribute. You, as a leader, should know that." She half smirked playfully. She did what she usually did in front of others; hid her problems so she wouldn't burden her companions. In this case, however, she wasn't really hiding anything. Except the fact she might actually like Hawkstar, even after only a day of really knowing him. She got a strange feeling in her stomach when she saw him now, like a mixture of anticipation and excitement. It didn't bother her the slightest bit. And even that she wasn't hiding very well.
Amberfrost flicked her tail, starightening it out. She opened her jaw and took a deep breath, pricking her ears while lcosing her eyes to enhance her other senses, a trick she'd learned from her old mentor who was now with Silverpelt. She still mourned Dapplecloud's death from the terrible green-cough she'd had many moons ago.
Her eys snapped open. Her ears flew forward. She scanned the forest floor knowingly, sniffing her way towards a rabbit. The she-cat lowered her ears and crouched low as she stalked closer and closer to the rabbit. It must've been a young one, for it obviously hadn't learned that the most dangerous predators came out at night. Amberfrost crept closer... closer... until the rabit finally saw her. It ran a few tail-lengths, but Amberfrost caught it before it could gain to much speed. Order up! She carried the prey back to Hawkstar, and sat, watching him. "Your turn." She smiled.

Hawkstar locked eyes with Amberfrost for a moment, and everything around him suddenly blurred. The leaves on the trees rustled slowly in the wind, and he could barely feel the breeze against his fur. Confused, he held his gaze until Amberfrost began to speak again, and everything returned to normal. Dumbfounded, Hawkstar glanced around, before turning his head back toward Amberfrost so he could attempt to focus on what she was saying.
They needed to contribute? Contribute what? Hawkstar realized what she had meant as soon as she perked her ears and opened her jaws to breath in the forest scents. He did the same, eyes narrowing a bit, and Amberfrost caught the rabbit-scent a moment before he did. Impressed, he stepped back silently and watched as the lean she-cat stalked her prey. Her silver pelt glittered underneath the stars, and it was as though he were in the ranks of StarClan. Her paws moved delicately, and she looked as determined as ever.
Rustle. A few bushes snapped as Amberfrost leapt onto her prey, and a friendly smile was planted on Hawkstar's face when she returned to him with a rabbit clamped between her jaws. "Excellent catch," he congratulated her, eyes shining with humor and excitement. Now it was his turn to catch something - if he even could. Breathing in deeply, he thought he could barely scent the faint trace of squirrel.
Crouching, his paws slithered above the ground, barely making any sound at all as the scent of prey grew stronger. As he slowly emerged through a few bushes, he spotted a squirrel scruffling through some dirt by the roots of a nearby tree. Evening out his haunches, Hawkstar waited for one heartbeat before making a massive leap. He landed squarely on the squirrel and swiftly bit its neck before it could even cry out. Satisfied, he turned around and trotted back into the clearing where Amberfrost stood. "Done," he meowed through the squirrel fur before dropping it at her paws. He then remembered about the idea he thought up of earlier, and he grew a bit eager to propose it to Amberfrost. "Listen, I want to make it up to you for being so rude earlier. So.. would you like to accompany me to Fourtrees? To, you know, just take a look at the stars," he offered, a faint hint of nervousness in his golden eyes as he waited for a response.

Amberfrost smiled as the tom dropped the squirrel by her rabbit. That's about three cats fed right there. She gazed around at the trees, the plants, the stars, the moon. It all seemed so different, but they all understood each other in some way, wordlessly. They didn't have to worry about any of the stresses being a Clan cat could have, and they could all probably give a word of advice to everyone. Especially the Great Sycamore. Amberfrost wished she could ask it a question, just lked she did when she was a kit sneaking away from camp.
The silver she-cat smiled. She nodded at Hawkstar and thanked him, complimenting him on hisplumo catch as well. It caught her by surprise, his next question. "That would be nice. Silverpelt seems especially bright tonight." Amberfrost didn't know what else to say, so she picked up her rabbit and looked at Hawkstar expectantly, waiting for him to do the same. Not too long after she picked up her catch that she scented a fox.

Hawkstar eye's lit up and he let out an inaudible breath of relief. Glancing up at Silverpelt, he nodded at her remark. "It's not often that you see it like this," he murmured, his mid lost for a moment in the endless swirls of shining stars in the night sky. He didn't think the day would go by so fast.
Seeing that Amberfrost was ready to leave, Hawkstar clamped his squirrel in his jaws and trotted up to her. A twinkle of amusement and excitement shone in his golden eyes for a moment as he turned to look at her, then he flicked his tail as a signal for them to leave.
Large paws thudded against the ground as he made his way toward Fourtrees, hopefully with Amberfrost fllowing closeley behind. He weaved through trees and easily leapt over small bushes. Finally, just as his flanks were beginning to heave, they burst into a moonlit clearing, with the Great Rock shining brilliantly across from them.
Notes: I didn't know wether or not you wanted a fox to attack them or anything, so I just kinda decided not to. =/ And I don't think they'd be able to star-gaze with wounds and blood all over them. Not very romantic in my point of view. xD

Amberfrost shrugged off the fox, but it didn't stop her from glancing around every so often. She tried not to let it bother her. On the way back to camp from Fourtrees she would inform her leader of its presence, but for right now, she was supposed to be running with Hawkstar to the Clans' sacred meeting place. The place where their own kind had been betrayed and abandoned, rock hard faces giving way to nothing as they left and never turned back form the place they once called home.
The she-cat clamped harder onto her rabbit and began trampling through the undergrowth silently behind Hawkstar, while still being sure not to break it's skin. Although it was a little difficult despite her strength, she eventually made it to Fourtrees. Amberfrost set down her catch, and knew she just had to do it. She kicked some dirt over the dead rabbit, padded close up to the huge grey stone before her, and bunched up her legs.
Amberfrost pounced onto the Great Rock, and stood towering over everything. She knew it was rather immature of her, but it looked like fun, and if you couldn't have fun without being a little immature, then what was the point in having fun? The spunky she-cat smiled at Hawkstar before plopping down onto her side and rolling over to her back. She gazed up at the bright bulbs that seemed within paw reach, when in theory, they were forever away on an endless journey. She loved to look at Silverpelt; she swore she could see her recently deceased mother's silver face mixed in with them whenever she did.
"Beautiful." was all she could say, and being next to Hawkstar made it all the more enjoyable, even if he didn't feel the same way.

Hawkstar stopped for a few moments to wait for Amberfrost, and during those moments he tried to catch his breath. When Hawkstar was an apprentice, he was estatic to attend his first gathering. As he followed the patrol out of camp, he was amazed by the feelings he percieved as they traveled to Fourtrees. Surrounded by strong, loyal ThunderClan warriors made Hawkpaw feel dumbfounded and excited. He was feeling that now.
As Amberfrost climbed up the Great Rock, a twinge of uncertainty grasped his stomache. If Clan cats were allowed to be at Fourtrees when it wasn't a full moon, then there would be tons of cats climbing the Great Rock and possibly taking prey. But he knew that this was only for one night, and he knew he could trust Amberfrost.
"Good evening, Amberstar. Is all well in AmberClan?" After leaping onto the Great Rock beside her, Hawkstar sat perched by her side, gazing down at her in amusement. His tail flicked from side to side, showing his content as an amused purr rumbled from his throat.

Amberfrost gave a small giggle at Hawkstar's words. "AmberClan is thriving with ease, although that pesky HawkClan is determined to mess it up. Maybe jealousy?" Amberfrost bantered playfully, switching her gaze from Hawkstar, to the stars and locking back on Hawkstar.
When she looked at the muscular leader, she didn't want to look away, and it was hard not to just keep looking into his bright golden eyes that seemed so full of life and excitement... She hadn't realized until now that she had been purring. Amberfrost thought about everything that had happened today, and later realized how high the moon was. It looked to be almost moonhigh, but Amberfrost couldn't tell while she was laying upside down.
The well-toned she-cat thought about when she was a kit. She would always tease the other kits about being so young, since she was one of the oldest cats in the den, but only by a moon or two. She teased all of them, probably even Hawkkit. As an apprentice she did the same thing, but not as often. She was usually too busy to 'play', and she regretted it every so often for not making close friends when she was young. It ruined chances of getting to know others, and it had even separated her from getting to know her own current leader.

Hawkstar grinned in amusement and raised a brow in mock disbelief. Puffing out his chest in a defiant gesture, he pretended to glare down at Amberfrost. "HawkClan is certianly not jealous at all! After all, we are the strongest Clan in the forest." Hawkstar flicked his tail in amusement before laying down beside Amberfrost and turning on his side, batting her ear with a large, unsheathed paw.
Hawkstar purred - something you wouldn't expect coming from such a mature leader like himself - and lifted his gaze to Silverpelt. He opened his jaws slightly in an amazed gasp, and the numerous bright stars made him somewhat dizzy. Though he refused to take his eyes off the beautiful sight, and gingerly lifted a paw upwards, as though he could pluck one straight from the midnight sky.

She smiled again. Maybe you were the strongest Clan in the forest, but since AmberClan is here, everything is different." She swatted Hawkstar back with a soft blow jokingly. She followed his paw's direction towards Silverpelt. I seemed to have gotten brighter in the last few seconds she hadn't looked at it. StarClan must be seriously happy with something to shine that bright. And to top it all off, not a single cloud was in the sky, and the moon itself seemed to be beaming with excitement.
A question popped into Amberfrost's clustered mind. She didn't hesitate to ask it, but she chose her words carefully. "Hawkstar...? Have you ever felt like something was.... missing... in your life. You know, that empty feeling you get but you don't know what it's from?" Amberfrost exhaled and continued to look at the brilliantly lit sky.

Hawkstar was surprised by Amberfrost's question. Dumbfounded, he attempted to comprehend what she was asking. When he figured it out, he started the go over all the things in his life that made him happy. He had great friends, like Ravenleap, and he had the most honored position of being leader of his Clan.
Yet, Hawkstar realized that Amberfrost was right. Sometimes, but only faintly, he felt a hollow feeling in his heart. He never knew where it came from, or why, for that matter, but it always seemed to make him look for that missing thing, as if his life would be complete when he found it.
Turning his head, he glanced at Amberfrost. Now, he tried to determine wether or not he felt that hollow spot in his heart, but strangely, it wasn't there. Usually he'd notice it, and then forget it later. But now, Hawkstar knew that it wasn't just that he couldn't feel it, but instead, he knew it wasn't there. As he continued to look at Amberfrost, a new feeling spread throughout his heart, and body. It was almost warm and comforting, like the fur of a nursing queen, but also happy and cheerful, like when an apprentice was being made into a warrior. awkstar couldn't explain nit, but he knew the answer to Amberfrost's question.
"... Yes. Do you?" he asked in response, his golden eyes twinkling in curiosity and confusion as to why Amberfrost would ask a question like that. It wasn't something Hawkstar would ever think about, but now that she'd mentioned it, it kept nagging him at the back of his mind however hard he tried to get it out.

Amberfrost had to think for a moment before she answered, still stargazing. She said it in a monotone voice that seemed clearer than the usual liveliness in her voice. She thought about why she really asked the question.
Was it because she just was curious? Unlikely but possible. Or was it because, deep down, she wanted to know if Hawkfrost felt the same was she did? That there was an ominous void in her heart, but unsure of how to satisfy it? The more she thought about it, the more it sounded right to her.
"Because I feel the same way too. I hate not knowing what it is, but then I see..." she paused, unsure of whether she wanted to say her next line or not.
Amberfrost trailed off and continued to watch the stars.

Hawkstar frowned when Amberfrost took unusually long to answer, but he stayed silent the entire time, patiently, yet desperately waiting for her answer. It was such an interesting question, and it was even more interesting to hear what Amberfrost had to say of it.
Hawkstar returned to gazing at the bright stars of Silverpelt, but kept his ears attentively pricked. Anticipation prickled through his fur when Amberfrost trailed off, and he suddenly itched to know what she was going to say. "When you see what?" he asked without a moment's hesitation. It was clear that he wanted to know what was on Amberfrost's mind.
But he didn't always act like this. If say, Ashcloud had somethign on his mind that was bothering him, Hawkstar wouldn't just walk up to him and ask him just like that. But with Amberfrost, he felt like he was in the dark when she wasn't telling him something that was obviously concerning her, especially when he was leader. But of course, Hawkstar wasn't about to force her into revealing her deepest thoughts.
